From media comments and listening to Pyke, it seems NVB may be back this week. Maybe they could use him as a stopper when Martin is in the forward line. I do hope that NVB doesn't return. There are so many I would prefer if changes are made.
Not keen on NVB coming back.

Pyke just rolled out the usual response to the standard media question about NVB. Did everything we asked of him. Showed why he's a leader. Blah blah blah. Won't be back in.

On VB. I would also not bring him back up. Yes he played well, but just as the youngsters have to string a few together, so should the oldies if dropped for form
Yep - nothing in his game at Mannum suggested "straight back in".

Straight back in is for after an injury. From can't be seen as one week issue.

Not a chance, if we cant fit Knight and Cameron in, VB has no chance. Even then I think it will be Hendo before VB.

As much as David King is pretty unpopular here, I think there was some substance to what he's been saying this week.

I would rather take our form line from the NM game who, like Richmond, are a hardened unit who were highly motivated to win.

I felt very confident against Port given their outs and the way they played v Saints. On top of that they lose Chad during the game.

So to me we are back at round 1. Hardened side, highly motivated. Puts it back to a pure 50/50.

VB having a good SANFL game really worries me, Im giving the selectors the benefit of the doubt before turning on them. Maybe they have turned the corner.

Its definitely not better than a 50-50 game. They are going to be pumped.

I dont think by any stretch of the imagination this will be easy, but a few variables are in our favour.

The Tigers are missing genuine top players from their best 22 and the game is played at the Dome, which according to their fans it is their Achilles heel, statistically too as well. Coupled with the poor football they played prior to the shambolic capitulation in the last 5 minutes and while I am nervous as hell, I am confident these variables are of great significance.

I will be interested to see our performance in the 4th quarter given we have been well outscored in the last two weeks, especially if the game is in the balance. Had a feeling the players eased off last week given the game was truly in the bag, but obviously not so against the Roos.

Yeah, I thought the Pies--Tigers game was substandard with both teams playing poorly.
I'm confident we will win this week.

Lets not forget that the Pies fielded a weak team and were missing some top class players too and yet the Tigers disposal and ball use was pathetic.
They do struggle at the Dome and have lost winnable games there too in recent past.

Press conference--yesterday I think. Should be up on AFC.com.au
Either that or it was a news interview on last night's telly. Sorry I can't recall which.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

If you read the full thing, it's clear that Pyke was just answering a question about NVB. NVB "pushing for selection" is Jasper Fjeldstad's opinion.

One player pushing heavily for selection is Nathan van Berlo

The former captain was dropped for the match against Port Adelaide but did everything that was asked of him when playing for the reserves in the SANFL.

“He was very good last week,” Pyke said. “I was really pleased with Nathan.

“The character of the guy, accepting the decision as disappointed as he was ... right along the line of our team first ethos is Nathan.

“He went back and played his role, did what we asked of him and played well, which is exactly what I expected from him.”

Van Berlo DID NOT have a "good" game on the weekend. CERTAINLY not one that brings him straight in.

Pyke has already dropped the guy, no need to sink the boot in while responding to a trolling reporter... Just looking after the morale of the troops.

They struggle without Deledio. Barely won a game last year without him, barely lost a game with him.
