Question is... if JJ is out for the Cats game, will Sauce replace him rather than the Big Easy?
Dear lord no. After a supposedly good preseason sauce looked like he could barely cover ground in the first 3 rounds. He should never come back in again unless 100% and ROB is struggling.

There's not really any suitable place to post this whinge, but I'll do it here. I used to go to the games all the time, but then life got busy and these days I'm lucky if I make it to more than one game a year. Tonight's match was my first game this year, got a members ticket on the cheap and decided to go.

**** me, the Crows supporters in the members are a bunch of miserable pricks! Literally every single contest was just a chorus of moans and groans. If we kicked to a one-on-one, "oohhhh, no!", whether it was a good option or not. If a player was under pressure and didn't pinpoint a teammate, you'd inevitably hear someone screaming to "DRAG HIM!" Any switch was met with anger. Even if we switched the ball to a free player in the centre of the ground, there would be furious screams about "GO FORWARD YOU IDIOTS! JESUS CHRIST!" Every single time Atkins got the ball a whole group of people just audibly groaned. It was honestly ridiculous, I've never heard it anywhere near that bad before.

It was almost comical at points. Practically every goal we kicked was preceded by a play that had attracted groans. Obviously the play wasn't that bad, we got a bloody goal out of it! "Ohh JESUS CHRIST, why are you going sideways!!!!! (to a free player who then hit up a leading forward)". There were a group of Richmond supporters near me who looked genuinely perplexed at the reactions going on. I could hardly blame them.

Though I must admit I did get one laugh when Hartigan was outmarked at one point and a guy screamed out "OH LOOK ITS MY FAVOURITE PLAYER, KYLE DICKHEAD HARTIGAN"

Anyway, re the game itself ROB is awesome and I love him. Get better soon JJ. And Murphy. And Talia. And Kelly.

Tale of two halves. ROB was immense and all the outs for the Tiges just were too much to cover. Should play kids against the Cats as all of a sudden our injury list isn't looking too great.
I think Kelly Talia and Murphy will probably be right to play after the bye.

As i mentioned at 1/2 time Pykey what's Plan B C D well he showed all of us
He told the Forwards to kick Goals How easy was that
To think his game plan, which requires us to not kick goals made it as plan A, is amazing.
I’m not sure when that one would really apply.

Looks like my decision to not get involved in the game day thread tonight was a seriously good move.....Just going through the first half of the thread it's just more of the same old, same old crap by the usual bed wetting perps.
How did you find our play in the first half?

A lot of those people would have no idea, the thing is a lot would have a lot of idea, SA is a football state, there's plenty of football brains just cruising the street. A lot of the things like the above are our issue.

You can tell we have certain patterns or team rules and then when they get broken, often things go better than when we stick to them.

Don't do a rushed long kick forward, so mid after mid doesnt and we get no score, nek minnit, ruckman or greenwood hacks it forward blindly and we get a goal.

Don't do torps at anytime, nek minnit the opposition does one and gets a goal, seedo does one and gets a goal, there were a couple of chances tonight in the first half where we should've done them, but no we wussed out.

Don't rush, you'll kick it to the opposition, takes time, kicks it STRAIGHT to the opposition, WTF, if you'd have just gone fast maybe it would've gone to the opposition, maybe it wouldn't but at least a heap of defenders haven't gotten back and you give the forwards a chance.....etc etc et bloody cetera

I had to temper a lot of my old man yelling last night as i could see the players at least trying or attempting something. It works, great; if not grr

But its the blatant kick to opposition or handball to a pressured teammate that gets me yelling. I think supporters also forget that what they can see isnt necessarily what the players can see

Twas mirrored in our game day thread. Go read it for a chuckle.

Of COURSE it’s not what the players can see! And the complaints about shitty skills... they are playing at a breakneck pace, under immense pressure from an opposition who is - hello, ALSO trying to win, it’s rained for days leading up to, so the ball is going to be wet and slippery, and more importantly - they are HUMAN. There WILL be mistakes made. People need to be far more forgiving. None of them go out to deliberately stuff up. Not one of them.

That whole first half was putrid.. totally and utterly putrid..

Countless handballs turned over to the opposition or to a team mate that was under immediate pressure. Would also love to know how many field kicks to team mates were overcooked and went straight over the team mates head and resulted in a turnover.

The worst part about it was that most of this poor disposal/decision making was done under average pressure.. there’s no way you could claim the usual manic tigers pressure was present last night.

If that was a full strength tigers side the game would’ve been over by half time.

Good that we beat them comfortably in the end but there is a hell of a lot more work to be done.. and id love to know why many of our players that are usually pretty composed have all of a sudden become panic merchants..

i though about Neil Craig and his trying to find players that made better decisions under pressure.

Maybe that's what the camp needed to focus on

So, much like half of our beloved BF members then! :) There weren't many apricot slices?

The Brouch kick across the ground to Dusty who strolled in for an arrogant goal is exactly what does it for me: the wallpaper would have started peeling if I had any. This was very Talia-like and has the potential to be momentum killing.

Points taken, but...far too many simple mistakes made by too many players last night, especially mistakes where there was little or no pressure being applied. We can bury our heads in the sand and make excuses, but to challenge at all this year we need to clean up our act. Hit targets by foot and hand and make better decisions with ball in hand. If Richmond had been at full strength then that game would have been over at quarter time.

If the two halves of the game were separate horse races, we would be swabbed after that effort. Three goals in the 1st and twelve in the second Bloody hell!

It wasn't really two halves, more like 1:3 quarters. we didn't turn up for the first, and when we had rediscovered our will in the second, we controlled the game but finished very inaccurately.

Jenkins strolling in and kicking a point when he had Tex all on his own in the goalsquare did it for me.

THIS!
Over use of handball, no run, lack of awareness of opposition and missing simple goals. First half was horrible. Play like that at Geelong and we are 10 goals behind at half time.

Exactly! And while it was frustrating to see players receive a handball and immediately get tackled, much of the handballs to players under pressure last night was unavoidable. The player with the ball simply has to get rid of it or be caught HTB. So he handballs to whoever is nearby who, because if Richmond’s pressure, is immediately wrapped up, no prior so it’s a bounce. So it’s not so much a mistake as a good move in the circumstances. Better a ball up than giving away a free

I've been thinking along these lines also recently ... imagine poor Lairdy with the ball and under pressure, and just sees a tidal wave of players oppsition and ours all jumbled up in front of him, no wonder he bombs the ball up high.

Probably no need to lump us all under one bracket, you get those idiots everywhere.

You must have been sitting near to me and my mates. You have perfectly described the mother and teenage daughter sitting behind us. Half way though the first quarter I said to one of my mates ‘“It’s going to be a long night, thank god the grandma is home with the flu”.

To be fair, this happens about once a season since we do not have reserved seats in the Western Grand Stand so we usually know which people to avoid.
