The selection of Smith and Sloane completely undermines selection integrity and although Schoenberg hasn't set the world alight seeing him dropped and others seemingly immune due to their respective status in the club must leave younger players who are dropped pretty disillusioned

Culture killer right there. Selection integrity is just another feeble excuse to keep senior players in the side at every available opportunity. I think we first heard it when Crouch was selected to replace a late McAdam withdrawal.

Carmo wanted a place where genuine analysis wasn’t interrupted with negative comments. So instead of, “gee, that was a crap kick, he was 15m out directly in front”, from Carmo, you’ll get, “he correctly propelled the ball forward and succeeded in clearing the score line and he has progressed our score closer to their’s, huzzah”

We are less likely to play four quarter football. We seem like a 1 quarter team at the moment

It’s both on turnover and the spread from contest, Port always seem to have so many uncontested players just sitting on the wings and at half forward post contest but the mark numbers for their much discussed ‘shaky’ defence goes through the roof. Burton and McKenzie usually have career days for marks so their absence is a positive, with them out it’s about avoiding Alir, you’d almost play whoever he goes to as a decoy forward just to purely avoid him.


Top left is 2020 so Hart, the other 3 are under Rahilly.

That happens because we push players up to the contest, when we win we historically just hack forward and oppo can then use the numbers that they chose to not match up with at the stoppage. It’s a tried and true formula that’s been used against our ‘weight of numbers’ strategy for many years.

B) Players are listening and the tactical acumen of Nix & Co gets deployed and the Power get an easy kill.

I don't mind it. Over the top vitriol is annoying, as is arguments about "too positive" or "too negative". As is reading 10 posts defending everything the club does.

The 2 threads should remove some of this through not having the conflict between extreme posters.

I think the selection of Sloane and Smith retains much needed experience and younger players understand that form is only one component of selection among many others like leadership.

Form is temporary, experience is forever...
