Crows Vs Tigers

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I think it is time we start settling down our line-up as the real season fast approaches. What line-up would you pick for this game? My team would be something like as follows:

FF: Edwards Fitzgerald Beinke
HF: Welsh Stevens Bode
C: Johnson Riccuito Burton
HB: Stenglein Hewitt Smart
FB: Bickley Bassett Hart
R: Clarke Goodwin McLeod
I: Biglands, Doughty, Rutten, Johncock, Massie, Gallagher

Would like to see us start the game at full strength. IMO, need to settle Stevens @ CHF & Hewitt @ CHB (but somehow I don't think Hewitt will get a run). Fitzgerald if fit needs to start to get some match fitness. Could play a half of footy, with Stevo later moving to FF, to give Rutten a go.

Also, if Johncock, Massie & Gallagher are fit, I would like to see them play off the bench, as they need the match fitness. If not I would sub in Shirley & Crowell.

What do people think?

I personally wouldn't change a winning side like ours unless we have any injuries.

Only change I would possibly make would be to bring in Gallagher for a bit of match fitness at the expense of Shirley.

My team would look something like this:

FF: Burton Rutten Beinke
HF: Welsh Stevens Bode
C: Johnson Riccuito Edwards
HB: Stenglein Hewitt Bickley
FB: Smart Bassett Hart
R: Clarke Goodwin McLeod
I: Biglands, Doughty, Fitzgerald, Nelson, Massie, Gallagher

What does everyone think about bring Rutten up on to the senior list??

I think Rutten is a good chance to get elevated, particularly if they can get Angwin on the Psycho list.

I though we still had room to elevate Rutten up to the senior list without having to worry about Angwin.

If the choice had to be made keep Angwin or elevate Rutten, which would you rather do?

Rutten should earn elevation

Stevo for Club Champion in 2002

Ben Rutten deserves to be elevated on what I have seen. More likely they will put Trent Hentschel on the long term injury list and elevate Ben then. Angwin is a phycho but he probably will stay on our list!

I wouldn't muck up a winning formula unless there is a late injury.

Heres hoping for a good win this week!

I like your side very much but I think the selectors will be loath to change the side too drastically.

I'd love to see Fitzy, Massie and Gags all come in but they'll probably get a run in the SANFL.

They'll probably stick with Stevo at CHB and Rutten up forward too, considering the youngster's good game yesterday and Stevo's last performance versus Richo.

Hewitt looks to be no chance, he's virtually not mentioned at all and it would seem he's definitely out of favour.

Hope we give Johncock a go this week too. Marsh will surely get a game again this week as he did alright last time against Ottens, though I don't know how much you can read into past meetings.

BTW, Anyone hear Gerard's big wrap on Marsh while commenting yesterday?? One of the best bigmen in the comp.?? He must watch Crow games sporadically....I hope he's right, but it's a very long shot :D

I'm yet to see Gerard right, I don't expect it to start now. Personally I think Marshy's day has been and gone. Which is sad to say because he can play some really good footy.

If the Crows hierachy don't play Fitzy this week (if fit), they are nuts. He needs the match practice & can be run off the bench (with 6 allowed) with Gags, Johncock & Massie. Then again, they don't seem to playing Hewitt.

Rutten can be elevated for Henschell, but he is only out for about 6 weeks. We should be able to put Angwin on the Glenside inpatient list, as he is not going to play again for the Crows.

Didn't catch Gerard's comment, but it doesn't change my opinion of Marsh. We should have traded him last year whilst we had the chance. Maybe we could through him in as part of the Pavlich deal, as Freo only have Simmonds & Estaugh. He would be in fine rucking company then!

This is Gerard Healy you are talking about!?!? Enough said!

This is the same Gerard Healy that commented that Matthew Bode had been a star in the Wizard Cup so far but was immediately put back into place by Jason Bennett who pointed out he'd only gotten 9 touches the week before.

Eh refined feral, its not how many touches you get itswhere you get them and how you use them.

I think Bodes been great but Ill rest my judgement until after round 12.

Kane theres no way Hewitt will play. And nor should he.

Doughty has turned an ankle at training & is in doubt for Friday night's game.

Topjars - I agree it is unlikely that Hewitt will play, but IMO he is our best option @ CHB for Stevo to play @ CHF. What did he do wrong when playing CHB last year? I don't recall him getting beaten. Certainly have more confidence in Hewitt than McGregor or Biglands @ CHB.

Also, Bodes form has been more than useful so far, but he needs to keep it up over a whole season before we get too carried away.

I guess Im not yet convinced about Hewitt.
He didnt do too much wrong as a stopper ...Is he attacking enough back there?

Bodes run thru the midfield where he draws the player and loops an accurate handball looked good:D

I can just hear Macca and Porthos either wringing their wrists privately or waiting for his next injury OR both;)

Hmmm, need to revise my proposed line-up as Fitzy, Hewitt, Gallagher & Massie are missing from my squad & Doughty injured.

FF: Edwards Schell Beinke
HF: Welsh Rutten Bode
C: Johnson Riccuito Burton
HB: Stenglein Stevens Smart
FB: Bickley Bassett Hart
R: Clarke Goodwin McLeod
I: Biglands, Perrie, Crowell, Johncock, Shirley, Bock
E: Marsh, Shir, Nelson, Doughty (inj)

He is too inconsistent for me to worry about him at all. He always has good pre seasons...i remember one match where he got 30 possesions in an internal trial which was the reason we put him on our list. He makes too many mistakes, altho he has good wet weather skills....his form is patchy at best.

Gerald Healy also wants to ban players from kicking the ball backwards. If Ben Marsh is one of the best bigmen in the comp, then Brayden Lyle used the ball more effectively than any other player last year!

Considering he wants to play for Box Hill Hawks this year i hardly think he is going to be put on any 'psych list'.

Macca - Angwin clearly has psychological problems which has (allegedly) led to him stealing from fellow players, drink driving, then sooking off home to Melbourne. He has stated he will no longer play for the Crows, so why shouldn't we able to put him on the long-term injury/psycho list. If we delist him now, we obviously cannot attempt a trade with the Hawks at the end of the year.

He is still playing football tho. Thats the point. He might be a headcase, but he still wants to play for Box Hill. From my knowledge there is no such thing as a 'psych list' its something John Reid made up to try and bend the rules.

Personally...unless he officially 'retires' from football...i cant see him put on the long term injury list.
There is no guarantee he wants to play for Hawthorn either...maybe he just wants to play for Box Hill?

macca 19....

"Computer games don't affect kids. I mean if Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room munching pills and listening to repetitive music."

Scary...but i think you might be on to something there !
Where did you find that little gem ?

BTW : very interesting game coming up.
Consider the paralell paths. of Richmond and adelaide.
Round 1: 2 teams get the jump on normally superior opposition.
round 2: we both blow away lesser teams.
Round 3: Richmond knock off the blues but Adelaide only beat Melb....
The lesser break for Adel. will be balanced by the tougher opposition that Richmond had to play...Adelaide had a training session by comparison.

Adelaide have more pace than Richmond but less 'special' .
Tigers by a sniffer.:p
