I can design one but I'm not running it, I already run two :p >=)

im sure there would be a few volunteers to run it from around here. if i had any knowledge of how to i would but i dont really, id be willing to contribute though if someone like ANT:p was willing to run it.

I have about as much experience running websites as I do with beautiful, young ladies (don't even go there ;) )

However, with a potential design at least 2 months away, there doesn't seem to be any hurry. I must say though, there has been a positive response and if everyone were to chip in, it would spread the workload and make it reasonably achieveable.

Unless anyone wants to dive in straight away (which is unlikely?), let's talk again in February.

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what other sites do you run DB10? Links?

I'm a staffer on Arsenal-Mania although I didn't do any of the PHP coding, but I've done a bit of the graphics and I maintain player profiles on there as well as write the occaisional article from-to-time.

The other site hasn't been launched yet since we're probably holding off till the next soccer season to launch it, and most of my other stuff is offline and on my other computer.

PHP and other server side techs are pretty hard to learn.. unless you have coding experience.

The guy who did that is a professional designer for a company in London. It's all well above my PHP-coding ability as I only know the simple stuff at the moment.

If someone could do me the favour of getting links to some of the other AFL clubs' fan sites so I can have a look at the sort of things that go on there, it'd be much appreciated.

Whatever you guys come up with please don't make it black like the Power From Port website. Go white like the Arsenal-Mania one, looks better.

BTW, who would be contributing articles regularly? Can just anybody do an article?

I think this is a great idea, something needs to be done because afc.com.au is terrible.

I would love to help but sadly I have no computer skills what so ever, I am struggling just writing this :o
I agree with the idea of getting alot of people to share the workload and willing to do my bit if I can.

Surely someone knows someone who knows a web designer?
If someone designed something using Dreamweaver I could help out but not run it myself. I run my car club web site on www.bolwellcarclub.com.au
And yes it's black :(

Just on our current website, they've finally put up the names of our newest rookies, but there are no pictures or profiles as yet.

And it seems we have picked up two players named 'John Hinge', whilst Jonathon Griffen doesn't exist.

http://afc.com.au/default.asp?pg=players&spg=rookielist

Do they even look at what they've put up?

As said earlier its not their fault the site is controlled by Telstra in Melbourne.
That says it all really.

I've got an idea for a design on paper that I drew this morning while waiting for lunch, and from the look of it I'd say a drop-down menu is probably the kind of navigation I'll use. I'll probably split it into these categories:

MAIN: Home, About, Site Staff, Contact
PLAYERS: Squad, Coaches, Draft, Injuries, Past Players
CLUB: Details, History, Records, Legends, B&F Winners, AAMI Stadium
SEASON: Home & Away, Tables, Finals, Wiz-hard Cup, TV Listings
STATS: Leading scorer and so on
SANFL: AFC players, Home & Away, Tables, Club Links

etc., any more suggestions are more than welcome and as far as the name goes, at this stage "As The Crows Fly" seems like the best one.

It'll predominantly be in white as I can't stand black backgrounds. :)

sounds good to me.

has someone suggested "the Crows nest" they may of already Im not sure.

You could possibly include match reports if someone here is keen to put their hand up, possible best player leaderboard as voted for on here.

Looking good so far. :D

Oh yeah, do you guys just want a link to this forum or something different?

The idea I had in my head:

click the thumbnail for an enlarged version, it's pretty rough if you can tell :p

You might look at having a message board or forum for chatters or message posting if that system is available. Not that big footy is crap but some other options is available

i reckon the more supporter friendly sections (forums, polls etc) the better

I think we would need to be careful NOT to replicate too much of the info that is already on the AFC website - injuries/draw/results etc - to me the real value is being different from the afc.com

That's true. I'd still put the draw/results and all that sort of stuff on there anyway because all fan sites have them :p

If he wants to, DT has to have a column :p
