Being a ruckman in a shallow pool of ruckman increased his trade value significantly.

Do you honestly think that any of the players Bombers36 has mentioned would be worth pick 31 to another club or that the bombers would be prepared to trade these players for that pick?

I agree with what you're saying. The only players worth something to another club are the ones we want to keep also. Which is why so few trades get done.

yeah your prob right - keep Ross & Steinberg - not to sure about Browne though

How many times have you seen either of these kids play? Browne has had his share of injuries but was very good in the VFL last year, died off a bit towards the end of the year but it was encouraging.

Ross showed he was more than capable at the end of last year and played some absolute ripping games of football. He is the player out of these guys I'm the most excited about. Who will hopefully add alot to the VFL team when he comes back from injury. He has good pace and skills. He is actually quite a smart footballer and is good in traffic. Even with his slight build last year he earn himself 2 games in the AFL and I thought looked quite good in the Collingwood game.

Steinberg has alot of tricks. I would love to see him start to get involved within the play more often. He goes missing a fair bit and I feel he doesn't lead hard enough after his first lead. He has all the tricks to make the grade IMO but I think he has to work a bit harder.

Both Ross and Browne last year clearly made the grade in the VFL, I would say Ross towards the end of the year showed he was a class above IMO. Opposition coaches last year even started tagging him during games which I think it a good sign.

Take Ross & Arial off the list and Id still trade any of Browne, Slattery, Gumbleton, NLM, Prismall, Reimers, or Hille IF it ultimately helped us win a premiership.
I believe that sometimes you need to give up something to get something - and if our list position warranted trading one or 2 of these guys for something decent in return then i'd be all for it. Im not saying go actively shop these guys around, just stating the obvious really.

Why would you take Ross off the list before Browne? Ross has shown more.

We didn't want to trade Jenkins, we offering him a one year rookie contract, Adelaide offered him a spot on their senior side. It's something we couldn't offer. There was no bad blood. We wished him well when he left and I'm really happy to see him get some senior games.

Slattery, Prismall and McVeigh are the only definate outs at this stage I reckon, Hille and Fletch will play on for 1 more.
Question marks remain on Gumby, Browne, Ross and Steinberg... all the others wil get new deals... why is the club taking so long to announce them??

Hey guys sorry to intrude but would you ever consider trading gumbleton? Always really liked the kid :)

Absolutely.

I would allow him to go free of charge.

Hi guys, just wondering if you can tell me what Brent Stanton's contract status is? Cheers.
Out of contract at the end of the year. Apparently very close to re-signing.

We gave Prismall a contract at the end of last year knowing that he'll be out most of this year too. Why would we not give him a contract now?

I would have thought the expectation was that he would be close for the start of the season, or at minimum been fit by mid season. At the end of the day he is depth and a lot of younger players have gone past him, rookie list at best I think (which he wouldn't take) and free up a draft slot.

Prismall was never going to be remotely close at the start of this season.

Keep in mind, he snapped his ACL in Round 19 last year- July 30 to be exact. Eight months (in other words, when 2012 season proper started) isn't that long when you've done your ACL and not opted for LARS.

Mid-season would have been the expectation. Which has been set back further due to his hamstring issues.

Just looking at our rookie list and thinking that 5/6 (sorry Longy) look excellent prospects. Can we keep them all, givenn they're all first year rookies, or do we have to be involved in the rookie draft each year just like the main draft?

Just on that thought, it's 3 players that we need to draft in the main draft, right? So 3 need to retire, be delisted or traded for picks?

Longy looks to me to be a player who seems to get to where the ball is going to be. Just a shame his body appears not to be up to it. Will probably be remembered for the pick we used on him more than the player he could have been sans injuries, which is a shame. Like Darcy Daniher, I think the talent was there.

I think there was a bit of fear of the Rioli outcome in taking Long. It's a tough one as ultimately we haven't had the chance to see what he could be. Hard to knock the recruiters on this one. Daniher had his flaws but I thought could have developed into a really handy 2nd / 3rd tall back. Disposal was horrid but he had a good sense of the game and no nonesense approach to it. Would never have been a star but IMO could definately have played in a GF side if things went his way.
