Honestly don't care about Ablett. Bloke is a champion, but there's no chance that he'll be part of our team when we make it to premiership contention (be it retiring at GC or being traded elsewhere). May and Lynch were the important ones as far as our future was concerned. Now we got both. Happy days!

I don't think Harbrow or Leslie are out of contract, FWIW. I've heard separately that Leslie re-signed before this year. Likely it just wasn't announced since no-one knew he was before the season started.
Ashcroft was on SEN tonight and said that with May now done, there ie currently no-one out of contract that the Suns want to extend until the end of the season. I very very much doubt Harbs fills that category. 99% sure he re-signed, possibly last year even. Just no announcement.

Not saying you're wrong but the one year extension came at the end of last year would be strange to give him another one so soon even stranger they didn't announce it.

I tell you, we would want to get the coaching situation right next year, Eade or not. Clearly May wasn't comfortable with a career contract — two years seems like he's holding back a little for some more positive direction.
Given Ablett cuts and runs this year, if 2018 is underwhelming we'd perhaps be looking at losing Lynch as well and then, just for shits and giggles, May comes back out of contract at the end of 2019. Fun times.

My understanding is Leslie signed a one year contract - he, Harbrow and Rischa will be all be extended.... if not done already..
A 2 year deal for an elite 25 yo kpp to stay is actually pretty sensible.
Want to maximise $ for the next 7 to 8 years, as well as keep the option open of leaving to chase a premiership.
With this deal, he will go back to the market in his absolute prime at 27.
If another club wants him then, will require mammoth 5 or 6 year deal to get him out. So big dollars until he is 32/33.
And even if he gets injured in the next 18 months, you know the Suns will still offer him a mammoth 5 year deal for him to stay. Just like they did with JOM.
The current climate for quality players at both the Suns and the Lions is a huge safety net for the players. Both clubs will take risks on keeping their own players. And the AFL will back them in.

fair play to him he committed to a club that is not clearly on the up and he is, so gives us two years which gives us some stability and currency on the hope we get our shit together and allows us to continue attracting other players YET if we fall over he can go elsewehere and clean up, I think he has done a very honourable thing and is handsomely rewarded
Really pleased to hear May has signed back on for you guys. Poor old vics not happy they're Northern development zone is now starting to fail them. Might have to do a bit of work themselves now.
