Ok, this is the chance to voice your opinion on a plarer in the current squad, whether your impressed by them or think they should get the axe. I'll start off...

Antonowicz: could have been so good but will probably be delisted at the end of this year. Was his make or break season but this knee injury will see an end to his career at WC.

Collica: seems to be a pretty good pickup to me. Could prove very hand in defence as a rebounding half back player. Not overly tall though.

Cousins: set for a huge year, will come close to winning the brownlow i reckon. His average this season so far with possesions must be about 30 which is pretty good and he is finally become consistent.

Gardiner: this is the year that other clubs will fear him. With him and Cox sharing the ruck and letting him loose at CHF he could very well make all australian team.

Pe Matera: looks to be finally coming back to form which is a good thing. Going to finish his career in defence by the looks of things.

Chambers: could finally break into the side this year as he played quite well last night. He will have to compete with some pretty good midfielders thought.

Thats all I have time for now but I think you get the idea. Lets try and get a record for this thread

The computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila (Mitch Ratcliffe)

Wirrpunda: Very good with all his skills and is being wasted in defense. Could be a real match winner if he can do what roo did in his prime, play on the wing.

Braun: We all know how good he is, yet nobody else shares our views. Is he really good or just a 1season wonder(1999)

Antonovich: I really feel sorry for this fella, his old man used to teach my brother at saturday school so our family sort of knows his.

Kerr: Has started his AFL career in fabulous form, lets hope he can progress and be in the same calibre as Couins, Gardiner, Morrison and Wirrpunda rather than another 2nd tier player.

-------------------------------------------------

Thats my views on our youngsters, I could write about all the players but can't be stuffed. Maybe i'll add some more of my views once other people get the chance to contribute.

"I'm not going to waste my life trying to prolong it"

Cousins - captaincy looks like its suiting him

Chambers - im of two minds on him, what position was he recruited for?

Collica - been very impressed, slotted in perfectly

Carrol - ive tried to stick with him but after the derby im starting to have my doubts

Might add some guys later

Thought i would do a few that havent been touched on yet.

Glen Jakovich - People had there doubts at the start of the season but i was never worried. Against the Saints he was awesome literally making Loewe disappear and again against Freo he gave Pavlich nightmares. Back to his best and await the next chapter of Carey vs Jakovich.

Troy Wilson - I love this guy! He is very intimidating, leads very well and can take a strong mark. The 2 questions i ask myself is ... Why did we not pick him up years ago? and can he kick straight?

Ashley McIntosh - Milli knocked up his 200th against the Saints and will truly go down as one of the best players to ever pull on an Eagles uniform. Looks to be set for another great year with his last two weeks been impressive against Spider and Mods.

Daniel Kerr - the future is so bright i gotta wear shades!!!! This guy is gonna be awesome.

Ok keep it coing ppl.

I'm writing off Carrol but not Antonowitz.

Injury is only a 6 week one and we have 18 games left (plus finals)

To be quite blunt, I think we only have a 50:50 chance of the finals. Two wins against two crap sides doesn't show we are a top 8 side.

If we look like not making the 8 then the kids will be played again and Antonowitz can put his hand up.

Chad Morrison - 99 posessions through 4 games at 24.75 per game is a pretty good return. Continues to be consistent off half back and i think will give a holler for an All Aussie spot this year.

Dean Cox - very impressive. The only youngster im more excited about is Kerr but Cox might have more to do with our success. Kerr is just another player for the engine room and we have plenty of players running that with Tommy, Cus, Banners, Fletcher, Matera, Morrison, Braun. But Cox could have the job of taking over the ruck and releasing Gardy to play in the forward line more and more often. Hope he stay healthy.

cheers.

Ill add some more...

Donnelly - used to be a good player for us but probably will be given the flick at the end of the year.

Merenda - looks to be a pretty good pickup so far and alongside Ph Mater will be a deadly small forward. Marking may need to improve though.

Wirrpunda - started off strongly to the season but not playing his best footy yet. I personally dont think he should be playing in a back pocket but more on the hf line.

Hunter - why KJ keeps using as an emergency is beyond me. He is a potential match winner but he needs his time in the WAFL to get experience. Then play him as he matures a bit.

Williams - could be trade bait at the end of this season. Fairly consistent but isn't as great as he first lived up to be. Nice option on the CHF line if needed and handy in defence.

Humm - from what I have heard this guy is going to be a great midfielder. HIs move from VIC to here doesnt seem to have bothered him and is playing good footy in the WAFL. When will he make his debut?

Thats all for now from me

Is Peter Matera being played in defence now?? I know at the Crows, Jars has been moved there now and it looks a good move. How has Peter been going there down back?? It's very handy to have a player of Matera's class in defence, sweeping around and setting things up with his exquisite skills. And if he's needed further up the field he can go there as well, this makes him more dangerous now that he can play in the midfield, up forward and down back.

Looks like the Eagles have plenty to look forward to with your youngsters improving by the game and if the older brigade stand up you could give the finals a real shake. Might go down to TAB Sportsbet and put a few bob on them for the finals (If I could)

Ant - Peter Matera has sort of been a forward pocket or half back the last couple of seasons now but he is returning to his best footy this year and can be deadly off half back.

With Matera Wirrpunda and Morrison running out of defence, it should once again be a strong point for the Eagles. He also can kick goals as we all know so if we are struggling offensively he can always be thrown forward.

If he continues his form throughout the season then i think the Eagles chances for success will be that much better.
