Cutting Buddy some slack this week.

Why do we boo in the first place? We're 'supporters' first and foremost. Take a moment and have a think about what that means to you. Personally, that means we support those in the brown and gold through thick and thin with complete indifference to the opposition.

Why 'supporters' turn into 'hecklers' and abuse the opposition confounds me. It just displaces the energy which should be positively directed at our boys.

I hated seeing Bud walk out on us, as much as the next bloke. But, as soon as he left Waverley he was no longer one of ours and is just another opposition player.

Hating him for taking the deal of the century, a deal that no one would knock back is pretty stupid really, and given the events of the week - extremely petty in the big picture of life.

If you knew 'exactly' how this deal transpired , you may have a slightly differing view ......maybe not.

Buddy will always be part of the Hawthorn family - he gave us much, he gave all of you much to cheer and be happy about.

First off I wont boo Buddy I just dont do it to any player, I just stick to the cheering of our guys.

You're right he gave us a lot to cheer about but he wasn't doing it for free and was rewarded handsomely in his bank account.

What Buddy did to Hawthorn was pretty shitty.

Whilst under contract he sought out this "deal of the century", it didn't just fall in his lap.

Suckling's circumstances were admirable and I will continue to like the guy, he wanted to stay but the contract much higher than Hawthorn could offer so fair play.

For me Suckling will always be in the Hawthorn family, Buddy is a COLA Swine.

This is all about Roughie. Judas is only one of his mates. There are many more mates playing in the Hawks team.
If Rough and Club want it to be business as usual then so be it. This includes booing of certain opposition players and the umpires.
It will be a bit harder to boo Buddy this time around but we can only try.

I noted after our close games so far this year (doggies and crows), which were cracking games to watch, that the opposition got a fair bit of respect from our fans

Yet his former team mates seem okay with it - my advice would be don't believe everything you read.

Completely indifferent to Buddy these days, he's just another star player for another team now. I very rarely boo, I find it to be such a mindless, inane and sheep-like activity, and hell knows we have enough of that in our nation without me adding to it. So I won't be booing...

It's an attempt to influence the outcome.

I'm not booing because when the last Sydney player was booed by our fans, it caused a great kerfuffle.
And Shaun Burgoyne said not to.

And I'm with the "Franklin is just a player wearing some other team's jumper" group.

Let's see how you all go 12 minutes into the third when being thrashed by Frawley, Buddy throws an elbow at him in a tussle....
see thats a booable offense, but to boo him just coz he plays for $hitney, thats just moronic.

He's still a human being struggling to deal with the health of one of his best mates.

FFS if he's struggling so badly he is free to sit this match out.
The overreaction to this news is incredible and Roughie himself has been the only sane one by telling everyone to get on with life as per normal. The players are not delicate little flowers and a football match would be a great way to forget about everything for a few hours.

Bud no doubt gave so much to the Hawks ala Gaz jnr to the Cats,I think well you probably can't stamp out the booing completely ex players do get booed all the time just depends to what extent I guess;).

I haven't booed Bud.....YET!

I won't boo him tomorrow night either, unless of course he does something on field that warrants it. He will be treated like all other opposition players. Hell, I remember booing Shaun Burgoyne at Aurora when he hit Mitchell many years ago, but he's now one of my favourite players.

My youngest daughter though, she may well boo him. She does every time she walks past the TV at home and he's on it, so I'm tipping it will be the same live.

You do know that Jarryd Roughead is a human being?

Are you aware that his friends and teammates are also human beings?

Or is your head jammed that far up your own arse that you are completely oblivious to human compassion? If you think that the players are just going to switch off and forget about things so soon after such news, despite the wishes of Roughy then you lack any sort of emotional intelligence.

Have you ever tried to go to work straight after receiving bad news from a loved one? How was your performance?

I've never been a huge boo-er but gee, if any sydney player is lining up in the closing stages to win it tomorrow night I'll give them a lungful.
I'll also boo if an oppo player does something particularly dirty ala McVeigh on Langford in this fixture last year.
However, getting stuck into one of our greatest ever players who is no doubt reeling following the diagnosis of his crook mate....no way.

I'm booing Sydney, not Buddy!!!

That doesn't make me a racist or a heartless person. It makes me a passionate Hawks supporter who wants to see the Brown and Gold win a crucial match for our season.
