Panda - can you give me some feed back on werribee....

I live in the area and know a few of the boys down at the club but you dont here much about the club around the traps....

With the team they have now, will it be competetive if promoted to c grade?

to be honest i havent seen any c section games, therefore i wouldnt really know.

having said that, the practice game (and i know its only a practice game) against caulfield earlier in the season, we were very competitive (up until the last quarter) against a side that has dominated c section this year.

on our day, we can be a really good footy side, the problem is consistency. just when we look to be getting a run on after winning a few games, we drop a game.

we have beaten all teams in the top 4 this year, but we have also lost to them as well.

if we could acquire the services of a 6'4" + CHF, it would def help (and i know they are like hen's teeth in the lower grades in the ammo's). our core group is still young and love playing together and for the club (despite some players being offered a fair bit of dosh).

Just my thoughts, but if werribee were promoted over the next 2-3 years, there is a fair chance they will be a storng team considering the population down our way and quality footballers running around in the local leagues down here.....

Playing in the local leagues around the metro area, i know myself there would be alot of footballers looking to make the move for maybe a better standard of football and not play for cash.....

Any thoughts???????

What a joke if the NOBSPC 2nds are forced to play on the Sunday.

Poor form VAFA.

Think the VAFA has actually shown a bit of common sense. Sorry that the D grade main events are getting in the way of the reserves comp. Don't know what NOBSPC would be worried about. Probably loaded their side with qualified ones players against a real reserves side who will be competing on their own merits. Don't think a day one way or the other is going to make a cracker of difference. The odds are Mentonians and NOBSPC will play off in the GF. History would well and truly support this.

Werribee are definitely on the rise and still have plenty of players developing in their undefeated WRFL U18 side. The sides in C section are no pushovers as OGG and BT have found out but I think Werribee are well placed to go places sooner rather than later. Rupo and Fitzroy also have some young guns coming through their unders (don't know about Friars) and would aquit themselves pretty well.

Question for Werribee, how will the formation and entry into the Ammos of a Point Cook senior side effect their player base. Word is it's not far away.

Valid point there Harps, however, Old Westbourne didnt really affect the club too much, and Point Cook is a lot closer to them.

The U18's are a talented bunch. With both 18'S probably premiership favourites. Werribee has always had a strong junior programme, now with decent football played in the seniors, it will entice a lot more of the kids to stay on and play for the club they grow up with.

Obviously some will want to leave to make some coin, good luck to them. There are some good quality players to come through that im sure will stay on.

The most exciting thing about the Werribee side is that most of the side are really young, and they all seem to enjoy playing for each other.

I wouldnt be to worried about point cook as t tennis has pointed out..

Valid point t tennis about the juniors, just from my experience places like hoppers crossing recruit to heavily leaving there juniors coming through on the outer and werribees juniors end up playing somewhere else just because of the level of footy werribees seniors were playing at in previous years.....

How ever there is now a good oppurtunity for werribee to pick these players up with incentive of playing at a high level of VAFA football....

Aquinas finished off the year on a high demolishing Leos to escape the dreaded drop. After letting Leos close to 17pts midway through the 3rd quarter the bloods kicked the next 15 goals with Matty Aver kicking 6 in the first 10 mins of the last quarter to assure Aquinas stays in D1 next year.Good luck to the finalists with Rupo my choice for the flag.

i'll have a crack at framing a market for this weeks games,

Rupertswood $1.60
Werribee $1.90

Whitefriars $1.40
Fitzroy $2.60

Seconds :

North Old Boys $1.40
Whitefriars $1.65

Rupertswood $2.30
Old Mentone $1.50

Winners Rd 1 Finals :

Rupo & Whitefriars

Rupo & North Old Boys,

Thoughts ?

with current form id say

rupo $1.65
bees $1.65

I saw the Bees last week and they were mighty impressive reckon the odds should be Bees $1.50 Rupo $1.85 more realistic especially if the weather is ugly!!

Friars a shade ahead of Roys depending on injuries

Roys $1.65
Friars$1.50

I was also lucky enough to see friars 2's (Yes I know I made stupid comments) who played great footy best 2's game I think I've ever seen.

Frame a market at

Friars $1.35
NOBS $2.00 Saw them twice this year

Rupo $1.20
OM $1.80

Form only!!

Lose Maaskant for Kohnesheen, Hugh Griggs onto a forward flank and I reckon you're on the money. Good job.

How does Mathew Antionella from werribee hold up in the ammos? Is he a good player?

Dave Collins (Captain) for Rupppo has had another outstanding year. Will poll heavily in the league B&F IMO. Would be in my team.
