Since when does the Box Hill selection committee listen to one board member? When it comes to picking a D4 player in their ones side??

You can claim he promised the earth given that St Mary's didn't win the flag.

I think that's pretty obvious. Put Nathan Buckley in A grade and he'd go pretty good. Put him in D4 and he's going to dominate. So yeah, a couple of super players can make a big difference at this level.

Bucks in A grade would "go pretty good", I think more like dominate, put him in D4, don't even go there......Eddie would never allow it.

Any news on how Kew, Nth & West Bruns are travelling with numbers, new players etc etc.

I think there was an early rumour that he was moving on, but I don't recall where to......

He has signed with Box Hill in VFL and from all reports should play in the seniors there.

Papa is gone, and I for one will miss him. The more talent of his ilk playing in D4 the better the standard of the whole comp. I wish him well whereever he goes.
But like St Mary's, they are not part of our comp.

hi all,
long time reader first time writer.
any news on how syndal is going, with new players, numbers, etc etc etc . what is thre ground like are they training on it yet.

Syndal started training last week with reasonable numbers. As for training on the ground....I wish, council still has a ban on. Condition of ground, could be better, still dry and hard.

New players, too early to make a call, have had at least 4 new heads at training so far, lots of talk of players coming, but I have been coaching for long enough that when round 1 comes then we can confirm.

anyone know anything about the freo of D4 namely albert park,they should NOT be allowed to wear port melbourne jumpers,maybe they should go back to being ANZ.
what a future they have,no juniors or decent blokes,apart from a couple of oldies.
once the grand prix goes they will miss out on about 7 ground and that will be the end of them.

Now im not the best player, but neither is papa any guy that has to go down grades to get noticed couldnt be that good. Watts for uni high would have sh!t in the league b&f if he hadnt done his knee, against marys no less..

Papa did finish 3rd in the a grade medal in 06 so he must go alright.

I do aknowledge hes a good player, i saw him bout 3 times and he was ok, but really, you would think that if u were truely good enough to play in the vfl u wouldnt have to drop grades.. that said good luck to him, he seemed like an ok bloke, (apart from playing for st marys n bringin their own stock of course) reminds me of tony liberatore actually..

I do aknowledge hes a good player, i saw him bout 3 times and he was ok, but really, you would think that if u were truely good enough to play in the vfl u wouldnt have to drop grades..

Wouldn't that suggest he didn't drop to D4 purely to get into the VFL?

Early last year it was rumored that he only came down to D4 to get noticed ... it worked.

thats exactly what i heard. he was a good player but there were a few players that matched him easily.. if he plays vfl, he'll get smashed i reckon cos they will all have his skill level, but they will all be bigger than him.. by alot.. i am too (bigger, not better) and im not very big. (except where it matters)

In my view, your comparisons of players to Papa in 2007 really don't carry much weight (or size). Fact is in 2006 he was deemed the 3rd best player in A grade - which is far closer in standard to VFL than D4.

well maybe he should have given them a second thought.. he may do well.... or he may not and end up back at Marys where ferndale park is better than any vfl ground there is..
