This is getting ridiculous, I have now been told that North Melbourne are going to put in an offer for Daisy.

Just make up your mind and put us out of our misery.

The funny thing is the FA period doesn't start for another few days

He may just quit footy altogether.

Exactly :D .....everyone wants it over before it even starts.
Where as the players/managers are better off dragging it out & landing the best deal.

He's a good footballer, but man - how many ads and TV spots did he do in his career? Even before the on field results came.

He's all about the money. His twitter feed is full of Cadbury ads. It's a business I guess, so whatever.

Good on him, but he is not worth 700K or even 600K per season at his age and injury troubles. Replaceable. Pendles however.....
He is allowed and to earn as much as he can outside of the club and in fact would have been heavily encouraged and assisted to. It would have been as much Collingwood's desire as Thomas' so any criticism of that is naive at best.

His age is not an issue. In fact he is prime age. If all out list was the same age we would be in the perfect short term zone for premierships. If all our list was of the same quality we would in fact be unbeatbable.

The ONLY reason Thomas may not be worth $700kpa is the doubt on his ankle. That is not the only reason he looks likely not to be at Collingwood and that is the ineternal examination that year after year, failure to capitalise after fauilure we do not undertake and act on.

Once again it looks liKe Collingwood has farked Collingwood.
We areeither the most tolerant or the most apathetic supporters of any sporting organisation I can imagine.

So he's leaving because he thinks we're shit? Haven't heard that one yet and doesn't explain why he'd go to Carlton.

Collingwood ****ing over collingwood.

Just like always Mark, and you know that better then me

Collingwood, always finding new and I've tube ways to **** ourselves over

Bring on pick 11........

If Thomas dosen't want to be there then so be it. The last thing you want is a player who is half hearted with their efforts because he would rather be some where else. I was hearing today that Hawthorn were a real chance of landing Thomas. The club is moving on from the old and tried, we've seen that with Jolly, Krak's, Did's etc gone. We obviously need new blood in the club and re-fresh the team otherwise as Bucks said you will be left behind. I applaud the club for having the balls to move on the players they have, especially in basically "trading" out 2 Premiership and AA players in Shaw and Thomas, who will still be best 22. I get the feeling the club isn't to distraught at the thought of these two playing for another club in 2014.

I presume a parge part of the reason he's leaving is that he's fallen out of love with the club. FFS when players like Shaw & Thomas are on the outer something is bloody wrong. Good players do not leave good clubs for no reason.

Shaw isn't leaving, he's being shown the door.

So it's all our fault that Daisy didn't wanna sign during the year and wants to go play with MM

And I bet you'll bring up that we should've kept MM as coach like you always do Opti.
I haven't posted that all year

I've just posted, still believe, and in truth it's pretty clear....that the guy that does coach Isn't all that good

No they don't they leave for either:
a) $$$
b) they're whiny little bitches
c) they want to win flags
d) all the other players hate them

I'm going with a + b

Our club was in a premiership hangover for nearly an entire decade after 1990. Premiership players were treated as heroes and we quickly deteriorated into the blackest era in the history of our club.

What we saw then was Collingwood ****ing Collingwood

If a player in our club wants to **** Collingwood no matter how good he is then the club needs to be strong and learn from the 90s. Weed out those that don't want to get on the bus and embrace those that do.

It looks like it. Quite apart from it beingh a poor decision and frankly weak option, the external examination I referred to would entail a major why! A heart and soul Collingwood man who recently re-signed a reasonably long contract falls out with the club/coach and vice vera. There were rumours during the year. I don't generally get to wound up by such rumours but subsequent events show plenty of basis.

Jesus, I never cease to be amazed at how accepting we are.

There needs to be the right balance though. Skill and ability will only get you so far, a player has to be a willing & 100% member of the team so attitude and commitment also make up the picture. I don't think any of us really have any idea what the internal workings of the club are and what has gone on with Shaw to make them reach the decision that it is in the best interests of the team that he moves on.

I will admit that I'm as surprised as anyone that Shaw is being traded but if it is the right thing to do then so be it - much prefer a champion team than a team of champions as time has proven over and over again, this is where success lies. If Daisy doesn't want to be a part of that then, on your bike as well. No one is irreplaceable.

Thank you for this Bloben. History matters!

I would like to know more about this too.

I'm going with people farking up up the internal dynamic which is after all the major seperator of talented lists and a major determinant of winning flags once you assemble a talented list. All the other issues magnify for disafected players.

The good news is that the way we are going we will have a perfect list for leading teams to start and be successful in building a winning culture so we can have a crack at competing for a flag. It's a pity the one we had that actually did win one fell in a heap but hey, it gives us sometihing to build on now. Once Swan retires all the naughty boys will be gone, we can finally get our culture right with a good group of solid citzens and Caroline Wilson won't write any bad articles about us.

As Buddy said, this is the new modern game.

Free Agency will do this. Players will seek longer deals, more cash etc.

Daisy will always be a Pies premiership hero, even if his "defection" to Carlton takes time to heal because in time it will heal if this is the outcome that is pending. He is a life member, given us some great moments, an All-Australian season and a lifetime of premiership memories in 2010. He will always be remembered as a Pies man, just like Buddy will always be remembered as a Hawks champ.

In the end, it's a win-win scenario for us. Daisy stays, great. If he goes, at least we will be compensated quite well with pick 11 giving us the opportunity to rebuild the list quickly and find replacements for him via youth.

I would happily prefer to see him stay, but are we meant to stamp our feet and email the club or stake out the Westpac centre? At the end of the day you have to accept the fact that Shaw lost the faith of the coaching staff, and more importantly a lot of the players and move on with the hope that we get a great trade or pick or whatever - and the best thing is that if we don't he sees out his contract with us!

I don't think we're apathetic so much as resigned and optimistic, and at the end of the day what else are we meant to be as supporters?

You mean the rumours of him yelling at the coach on the sidelines, constantly arguing with the captain and other players and giving away stupid free kicks and 50m penalties. Yeah I saw those rumours when we were playing.

Apparently we should be acting more like Richmond supporters.
