This boy is currently in Year 11 at Xavier College and down at Oakleigh Chargers. His dad, Mark, is a former Collingwood player, playing 61 games despite being riddled by injuries. Dan is a Collingwood supporter himself and performed very well at the Draft Camp:
=7th in agility test (8.32 seconds)
=7th in Beep test (14.2)
1st in 3km time trial (10 minutes 17 seconds)
His dad had explosive pace and from what ive seen of Dan he has explosive pace as well. Only the top 10 times were released to the public for the 20m sprint (2.92 or lower), and my guess would be that Dan would have easily got under 3 seconds - so his explosive pace is pretty good as well.
His reults seem to be very well rounded and he seems to have a bit of the Buckley determination in him:
"I was a bit disappointed with my beep test yesterday – I got [level] 14.1 and I'm usually around [level] 15. So I wanted to try and come out this morning, even though I was tired and the conditions were windy, have a crack, tough it out and with three or four laps left, pick it up. I was happy with it in the end. I got a time of 10 minutes 15 seconds – it wasn't lightning, but it was good enough. "
He was best on ground three games in a row at the start of the TAC Cup before the APS school season started, earning him a spot in the Vic Metro team. There he was a solid player, much like Tom Scully. Personally I think he is very much like Scully but only a few months older. His name is hardly mentioned in the Drafts and Trading Board, but I think he would be perfect at Collingwood:
- Midfielder (can play inside or out)
- Very nice skills
- Connected to the Pies through his dad
- Quick
- Very good endurance (Beep and 3km)
- Determined to be better
Just thought I would raise his name for he seems to have been forgotten, or for some reason or another he's simply not been talked about.
I think would could get him with a 3rd rounder (in my opinion an absolute steal - for if he were to be drafted next year all reports I have on him say he would be top 10 easily).
Interested to know the thoughts of other Collingwood supportes.
