We can demand whatever we want, but unfortunately that doesn't mean we will get it.

Our options probably range as follows:

1) 2 x 1st rounders + player

2) 2 x 1st rounders

3) The option I outlined earlier (pick 9+small upgrade on second rounder

4) Pick 9

5) Compo pick alone

1) and 5) are unlikely, anything in between is possible.
Agree with this

We go for number 1 but will be satisfied for 2 if we can get it done quickly and start our trading negotiations on first few days of trade period

Geelong will hope for 5 , then push 4 which won't wash so I think it ends up 2 or 3

It better be 2!!

Im leaning towards a switch of firsts to be on the cards.
With a switch of seconds as wel... which isn't a huge loss on second round this year by all reports...
Compo for danger.
Switch of firsts and seconds...
Would that get it done?
No bloody way it gets it done!!!

The ONLY team who come way out in front using the compo are Geelong.

There is no way another trade can be lopsided enough to make it anywhere near fair…we must force a trade pure and simple.

That would be:

Out: Dangerfield, Pick 13
In: Pick 9 (Geelong) 14 (Compo)

Geelong would be making out like bandits, essentially getting Danger for a first round pick.

Exactly right!!

With the AFL tightening up even further on unfair trades the ONLY club that wins massively by using the Compo is Geelong.

Screw that!!

Not that it will happen with Patrick but I am more interested for future RFA's.

If we matched a 2 year offer for a RFA and the player chose to stay. Would the player still qualify for UFA after 10. I assume they would, it could provide another avenue to discourage a team matching RFA offers.

If he stayed for 2 he'd be unrestricted at the end of that contract, it's only if he changed clubs that free agency qualification is reset

Seriously, if the Crows let Geelong get away with this at minimal cost we are the weakest football club to grace this nation and we might as well fold.
What worries me if that discussions are being described as amicable. Negotiation should be tough not amicable.

Gaz is cooked... he would still be good if his shoulders werent so bad.
can never write him off, I think he is still the best by far.....he showed it when he came back.
I think will all their classy midfielders back he will start spending more time forward and pinch-hitting in the midfield when needed.

Not to mention those picks might get bumped lower depending on what the AFL does with any priority picks or whatever they are called these days.

My starting point would be this year and next years first round pick minimum. Maybe some juggling of 2nd round picks for players or something too. If Geelong slide as expected that would at least see us get two top 10 picks over 2 years which is getting closer to fair value for a top 5 afl player (much closer than a freebie compo pick from the AFL!)

As long as we get (as a minimum) pick 9 and Geelong's 2016 first rounder as a straight swap then amicable is fine

Actually should have said we would get a first round pick for Danger, and Geelong give up less - only a downgrade in first and second rounders.

For Geelong:
In: Danger, Pick 13, Crows 2nd R
Out: Pick 9, Geelong 2nd R

So geelong get danger for 4 spots in the draft? How can an Adelaide supporter even suggest this?

Let's not count our draft picks before they hatch

I can still see us accepting compo or playing hardball and losing him in the draft for nothing.

To be honest, anything above compo and I'll build a Fagan statue in my front yard

wasn't there a guy who wanted to to the Cats to the Lions

We want Aish from Lions

I assume a 3 way in which we end up with Aish and some picks for Danger, maybe an upgrade on picks, something like that, I'm not AFL trading person.

Aish, Geelong's first pick next year, and Brisbane's second round pick this year would be an acceptable outcome.

Geelong sends Pick 9 and their fringe player to Brisbane.

Brisbane loses Aish and pick 20 but gains pick 9 and a fringe player
