This years and next years is way unders... need a decent player on top. Make them make it happen. They will lose so much face if it doesnt. Id be pissed if the afc just took 2 crappy picks.
Spot on! Look at the AFL weighting on draft picks…pick 9 is nowhere near as valuable as the pick 3 that the Eagles got in the Judd deal! And we aren't getting a Kennedy either at this stage.

If we only get 2 first rounders they should both be in single figures.

Remember what? It's been happening to us for years. We always seem to be on the giving end.
You got Betts!

That's completely different

Why?

...shut up. That's why.

Fairness would be the 2 1st and a player worth a 2nd round pick.

We should start our claim with 2 1st and Motlop, and then we either drop a 1st or Motlop for Murdoch.

There are plenty of clubs sniffing around who I'm sure could offer Danger a lot more $$$ than Geelong which will easily pay for his fuel costs travelling in to Melbourne, or for rent at a cushy townhouse near training so he doesn't have to commute every day.

Unfortunately if Danger went this way fearing the Crows and Cats are at an impasse then he could accept RFA offer from another club which we can't match. As long as we are confident we can match any deals and Danger def won't stay here then we are in the box seat. Honestly we should get a decent steak knife on top of the 1sts.
Would be happy if fairness matched reality and think we need to go for fairness but don't think fairness will eventuate

Being screwed? Being screwed?

How about this? We lost the best player of the last twenty years (Gary Ablett jnr) by an AFL plot to strengthen GC by allowing GCS such a big salary cap that, to match, we would have to pay our whole cap just on Ablett alone.

At least the AFL haven't directly intervened in making sure that a player of yours ends up at a club by engineering a situation where two new clubs can price anyone out of a bidding war.

No argument here. The AFL screwed us to with Bock and Davis. Then GCS and GWS grabbing every decent kid for 3/4 years in a row all while a bunch of other best 22 elope as well. Sydney with there Cola. Bloody annoying as hell.

Ok didnt Tony Abbott try this on with those ungrateful indonesians and their Tsunami relief?;)

Those pesky Indonesians owe us one!!

I believe they replied with GFYS or something to that effect. Pretty similar.

I never said " being screwed"!
Seriously - Settle down ! I merely pointed out we have lost several good to very good players by being Mr Nice Guy to assist players move to clubs of their choice

In this instance - and arguably the best if these players - I don't think the club feel quite as genial about the whole thing

We are not going to get his "worth" in any deal that occurs. here's hoping we get something that is at least hopeful of achieving his worth over time.

He clearly wasn't a required player by Carlton. It is a completely different scenario. And you shut up! :p

Asked if the Cats would move outside their pay structure to accommodate a game-breaker like Dangerfield, Selwood said: “I wouldn’t think they would do that.”

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-05/motlop-resigns-with-geelong

"It was really just about making sure that he realised his value, but at the same time we maintained a pay structure as we have done."

Senior Cats players have demanded the club’s bid for Dangerfield must fit in its “premiership” pay scale, which could not put the superstar Crow’s salary above Geelong’s senior leaders.

Midfielder Mitch Duncan said on Triple M “I don’t think they would throw that (payment) structure out the window”.

“I think the club is going to come first.”

Im thinking the amount of people saying it out of Geelong surely they arent all lying are they?

I'm sorry who is Joel selwood to say what the admin will do?

He's just a player

With the risk to the player being if they get a career ending injury towards the back end of the second year that they don't have a secured contract to support them for the remaining years. So presumably that provides a bit of weight on not going 'too short' on the original contract.

Exactly when there is an element of risk involved they are separate deals

Both Luke ball and Tippett have done just this with no issue from the AFL

Illl just list the ones I posted and their roles at the club

Steve Hocking (Football Manager)
Chris Scott (senior Coach)
Joel Selwood (club Captain)
Mitch Duncan (player)

Then Senior listed players

Not sure but that is a fair indication of what the major individuals think of the pay scale at Geelong considering the coach needs to keep his players happy, the football manager negotiates the contracts and the players get paid the $$.

To beleive that these people are irreleavnt, isnt even worth discussing

You should let the Courts know they've been applying the test wrong then!

I think you are confusing the overriding public policy of a person having the right to trade freely, and the second limb of the reasonableness test which very much looks to the injury which may be suffered by the public and their interests in the particular circumstances.

Not sure what coca cola has to do anything.

Feel free to show me how the courts have been interpreting it the same way you have.

Which if you could I suspect you already would have

That's a big fat zero on the people involved in the contract side of things
