Anything less then 2 average first and a good player is a fail. We hold the upper hand here. Geelong will be the laughing stock of the afl if they can't get it done. Spending years chasing a player to get to this point and not willing to give up what's required.

More than happy to see danger get to Brisbane in the psd.

A part of me hopes the AFC goes so hard that Geelong can't do a deal and PD has to decide to remain with AFC of go into the draft. That's about how hard I want them to go. The realist in me says Geelong's 9 and a player, or Geelong's 9 and their next years first round, is actually what will happen.
Two top 10 Picks would have to be minimum. As I said, it's up to Geelong to get them, not for us to accept what they have now or willing to give up (EG: Pick 9 and a player worth 20+ pick range).

I think the crows should release a statement saying; we are more than happy to allow him to go to the PSD should we not get our perceived level of fairness.

We will controll this narative and we will contriokl where he goes. Geelong should work with jus instead of trying to control where Dangerfield goes.

I like it, but Geelong don't seem to want to give anything to anyone. Its sense of entitlement is somewhat alarming. I don't see that Geelong will ever conjure up two sub-10 picks, let alone trade them away.

Jeez some crows supporters are easily pleased. I would rather play hardball and get nothing than accept Geelongs scraps.

Yep, I'd prefer we got nothing and in doing so send him and other clubs a very strong message we will not be dictated to.

It's Geelong responsibility to find a suitable trade. They have known for months that they could have to createw a trade. It's not the crows responsibility to accept less to simply satisfy Geelong and Dangerfield. They are a direct rival, why are we considering giving them a free kick from the goal square.

The AFL are weak on this. They bring in free agency then let it play out so one club gets shafted

It's fine if they want to let players move but it shouldn't advantage one club over another

If fair compensation isn't given the deal should be off

I do hope the club doesn't have the same defeatist attitude some on here have... "oh it's better than the compo pick, so blah blah blah" sheesh!
Forget the bloody Compo pick. This is now a normal trade of a elite uncontracted player, there are many examples of pasts trades.
If Geelong only have Pick 9 and a Average player, then it's THEIR job to get better draft picks/players to put on the table to trade.
It's not yet , we haven't matched the offer at this stage

It was 50/50. Clearly those who guessed correctly have bragging rights but I don't believe anyone read the 'signs'. There were signs for whatever anyone wanted to believe or hope.
I reckon he was a long time gone. Since the start of the year at least, probably the last off season, and I dont take any pride in being right.

The 'havent thought about it' line was a script that he stuck to from the get go. His words regarding extending his contract were consistent with a bolter.

I did think that maybe he was reconsidering after Walshs passing, when Connors came to town and that numpty journo broke the story that we were in the box seat. Maybe he was, but now I think it was just part of the smoke screen to help him get through the last few weeks. The script was well and truly getting old by that stage, and more unbelievable by the week.

We can't really do that until we match and we can't match until we know the offer
We need to chill a little

Then go hard at best possible deal

Hopefully we get enough to pull off whatever trades we have planned and take the rest to the draft

That pick 9 should be handy in this draft

We can still send a very subtle message about the draft or not accepting a bullshit deal.

Looking at Geelongs list and the lack of top young talent, I can see why, But it's not our problem. Do you think they would care if it was the other way around? lol

Yeah think we have been pretty good with that so far , heading to the table with goodwill is better than making geelong think of sneaky ways to get out of this because we are being unreasonable

We need to be firm but ok to deal with and I think so far we are playing this ok in the media at least

No, they wouldn't give one nob of goat poo. I'm looking forward to the mexican standoff. Danger: AFC? or PSD?

Why release a statement? As long as adelaide are communicating with Geelong the rest of Australia don't need to know anything yet.

Public pressure on Geelong never hurts. They're expected to get Danger, they're going to look like idiots if they don't get him.

Perception is reality and the perception right now, we won't receive a fair trade.

The club still have to sell hope and they need to show the members and fans we won't be walked over. This then leads to that on field persona about fighting to the end.

Yeah I'd have no problem with a statement like this. Just to see Hutchy's smile go from his face would be enough satisfaction

Why would they do that?

I'm sure Geelong is aware of our approach and intentions. That's all that is necessary.

The only reason the AFC would do that would be to put media pressure on them if they aren't being reasonable, which I doubt is the case (particularly at this early stage).
