For a bunch of blokes that play a tough sport like AFL football, I have never seen a bigger bunch of pussies when it comes to professional sportsmen.

Hopesickness is a load of bullshit. Players need to have more control of where they want to play? Sure but you have to earn that right. It also means that you cannot refuse a trade. In the NBA the club can trade you where ever the **** they want and you can't do a thing about it. What it would mean is that Adelaide could have, if they wanted to, trade Dangerfield to Melbourne last year for picks 2 and 3 and there is not a damn thing he could do about it other than whinge. As things stand Adelaide had no leg to stand on.

Also if you are a restricted free agent and the team matches, you are staying there, no questions about it. If you really want to go, it's time for a sign and trade deal or you can sign for one year qualifying offer, play it out and then piss off somewhere else.

The whole AFL's version of free agency is laughable on so many levels but it's driven by a bunch of pussies crying like a babby about wanting to have the right to chose where you play.
A 1000x this!!

The current system is ridiculously weighted towards players to the detriment of the club.

Problem is that I as a supporter follow my CLUB…why should whole clubs be screwed over by a system that panders to prima donnas?

Wouldn't Murdoch be heading straight to the SANFL?
Why do you say that?

He is an outside midfielder with good pace & a great left foot kick... Who is around the 50 game mark, so will become more consistent. Ie. Just the type of player we need.

Yes exactly why can't this be said in main stream media. All you hear is that you can't force a player to leave blah blah blah.

I can't stand the assholes on this board that think that disagreeing with them is some kind of character flaw.

I find you to be one of the most obnoxious posters on the board. Something that the self-absorbed forget is that having club decisions thrown in your face as being fact that you have no idea is only tolerable for so long. Especially considering our overall performance over the last few years. Every now and again those of us that disagree with the club strongly lash out at those that continue to claim that because the decision was made then it must be correct.

Anyway, you're not entirely one of them, but I still think that you're obnoxious.

Original ....haven't seen the 4 way ...can you post Kane
It's a long post in the play station trade thread.

4 way deal between us, Geelong, Carlton & Brisbane, including the players rumoured to be interested in moving.

And yet you are not shy in having cracks at those that disagree with you

Fair enough - but I'll disagree with people's comments. I won't attack people's character (i.e. sycophants). Maybe I'll go too far with things that happen repeatedly (400kay, "PlayStation trade", Ottens/McKay) but mostly I'll have a crack at someone's actual post.

The reason is we keep referring to 18 year olds .....then make it 20 YO min and stop referring to moms apron strings

Two ideas with merit;
1. Allow clubs to trade players to the clubs benefit for the 8 years till RFA eligibility kicks in

2. At the draft, allow on trading of players drafted to overcome this homesickness issue

Wow.

I have empathy for those at the club, because every major decision of the last decade has seen people argue both sides on this board - and then we forget that once the decision is made.

A shed load of people here disagreed with the Betts signing, thought we shouldn't have gone after Polec, ragged on Laird or Jenkins or whatever.

Some were right, some were wrong. It's not sycophantic to argue that they're not somehow incompetent for making the decision, and it doesn't mean you love the club less.

Fair enough if you want to attack my character and call me obnoxious - you probably have enough evidence from my posting here to form your opinion, so it's probably a reasonable thing to say.

Just a quick note though. You do realise that everything you wrote was contradicted by your last comment don't you
Not at all. If you'd been able to comprehend, you would have noticed I'm as pissed off as everyone else.

But Gramps would have said "well done doing the right thing by your family" wouldn't he? Thats what you would hope right? Right?

I certainly disagreed with overpaying Betts in the sense that consistently challenging clubs have a culture of players accepting unders. And if you're going to pay overs here and there it puts you even further behind the eightball than where you started.

We disagree on a lot of things, but I did't intend to attack your character. I know you don't care, but some of your posts are less about opinion and more about attacking opinions of posters. It's great fun though, that's what makes this board so enjoyable.

No. I don't think danger has made the right move. But what I think doesn't matter. To me, being a one club player is a special thing. I don't understand why he doesn't. But I completely appreciate that he and Mardi have made the right decision FOR THEM. Like everyone else, I expect our club to do the right thing by the club in negotiating his departure.

Nice dodge ;)

And I AM obnoxious much of the time - but considering we're dealing with life and death things like "I disagree with someone on the Internet", it's very easy to overreact. ;-)

And I agreed with paying Betts what we did. We had to change the story and be a destination instead of a departure club. The story isn't that Port overpaid Boak - it's that they retained him.

Here are the indicative dates for the 2015 NAB AFL free agency and trade periods:

Friday October 9 - NAB AFL restricted free agency offer and unrestricted free agency period begins

Monday October 12, 10am - NAB AFL Trade Period begins

Sunday October 18, 5pm - Close of NAB AFL restricted free agency offer and unrestricted free agency period

Wednesday October 21 - NAB AFL restricted free agency matching offer three-day period ends

Thursday October 22, 2pm – NAB AFL Trade Period closes

Based on this timetable ...Geelong have one day after offer is matched by Adelaide to do a trade

Does anyone truly think it will get to this point ? .....IMO trade will be completed b4 October 18th
No RFA offer will be placed by Geelong because Adelaide have till one day b4 trade finishes to respond .....would kill off Henderson trade & delay all manor of trades by the Crows as well

You've never changed your mind about something in your entire life? ;) At first you wanted something for a reason and then later realised you still wanted it but for completely different reasons?

Oh come on. He didn't change jack shit

He lied and then he lied again. He had 2 motivations
1. Go to club of his choosing
2. Not be hated for it

He has been trying to manipulate public opinion of his decision by trying out whatever reason cops least shit

I think you might have misinterpreted the timings. Free Agency begins on the 9th and finishes on the 18th. There is a 3 day matching period limit, hence the matching period ends on 21st. This means if someone makes an offer on the 18th the club has 3 days to match hence matching period ends on 21st.

However if Dangerfield signs an offer sheet with Geelong on the 9th, Adelaide has up to 3 days to match (i.e. The 12th)

"Homesick" or "family" is the afl players equivelant of stress or anxiety in the average work place. It's a sure fire way to get what you want. At least leaving for money is honest and gives all clubs an equal chance to lure a player.
So if Danger went to another club on big money, you'd be okay with that?
