The debt and spending numbers contained in the IPA's report are able to be fact-checked as they are not a matter of opinion. So rather than go "teh IPA ?!??!" perhaps debunk the figures - if they are wrong, it should be simple.

Shouldn't the responsibility for clearing the PFAS have been clear in the initial agreements if they all knew it was there? Also, we should expect more of governments - it's not like a collection of people off the street with no alleged expertise in, you know, governing. Easily avoidable mistakes should be easily avoided.

The issue isn't the debt levels they have stated but trying to paint a picture of " nothing to show for it" is just political spin. If they truly cared about the economy and the state they would have listed some of the positive things the money that's been invested will achieve once completed but offset that with the unfortunate circumstances that have come with it. This is just them saying " Do things our way and you wouldn't have any of these problems" which is a load of garbage.

Kennett's strategy seemed to be austerity, cut funding (particularly if you were, say, in the arts and criticised his government), sack everyone, sell everything.

According to Sttew that was much better than how Andrews ran the state. I'd say because it may not of affected him personally so he couldn't care less how Kennett did things. The Conservative way of running things is always Austerity regardless of the situation and other alternatives. Outside of COVID if your biggest gripe with Andrews is he has racked up alot of debt than I reckon he could live with that. Much rather proactive government than a government that cuts services across the board than tells everybody to suck it we had no choice. Newman tried to do this in QLD and look how far it got him.

Well, you see, the damage caused by Dan was immeasurably worse than anything the Federal government did or didn't do.

With the Feds; the AZ situation was terrible (albeit because the risk / reward was too low due to our comparatively low numbers to actually use it), supporting ****wit Clive Palmer against McGowan, failing to carry the $60 billion in the Job Keeper calcs etc. There are some obvious faceplants.

But this isn't the thread for that and any push to include the Feds' performance is is exactly what I said it was to Festerz in another post; deflection by Labor Party shills.

I voted for my then local member Richard Wynne in 2018 FWIW, so I technically voted Dan in for the then unknowable at the time pandemic. I thought they were doing a good job generally, although as a property professional, I thought some of Wynne's measures as Planning Minister were a bit too restrictive. That said, I thought Guy and Madden's planning policies were all about lining the coffers (and possibly their own!), so Wynne's policies against that process was commendable, albeit (IMHO) a swing too far away from ensuring that houses and apartments got supplied (and we're suffering as a result a bit now, although it's also to a large degree a worldwide problem like inflation).

I'm still not sure what you're on about. Last time i checked Andrews won a hat-trick of elections - a rare feat anywhere this day and age. Most of them by a landslide. Yet youre on here doing an "i told you so" routine'? you need to get over it ( and yourself while youre at it)

I’d liken Andrews’ stint to Ed’s stint as President with the Pies. The first half was a breath of fresh air after general ineptitude. But the second half was ****ing toxic, as we descended into an autocratic mess of faceplant after faceplant.

It needed to be called out at the time and it needs to be readdressed as time goes by to ensure that we (both Victoria and Collingwood FC) don't make the same mistakes again.

thats fine ...... but the attention on andrews from the 'chairman dan' campaigns jointly pushed by abject political failures like louise staley and tim smith along with partisan conservative cheerleaders across all major news outlets has gone well beyond scrutiny ...... well beyond

when one of the major dailys in this state publishes a series of front page stories 'interviewing' the stairs where he fell then we have gone well past the perfectly acceptable democratic pursuit of holding power to account - it is shameful unhinged nonsense that treats the democratic process with contempt ..... and thats where a lot of the so-called 'anti-dan' movement now sits (even on this website)
