Jacinta Allen, the former Minister of the Fyre Festival, was asked in Parliament today whether she, the Premier and Harriet Shing would give evidence to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Cancellation of the Commonwealth Games, and Jacinta said it was premature for the Government to make any commitments!

Hard to believe this woman could be our next Premier. Even harder to believe the Government desperately tried to stop the Parliamentary Inquiry from getting up.

The word from unnamed Labor backbenchers is that Dan has zero idea what the actual costs were going to be. He made up the figure of $6-7 Billion, having realised it was unlikely the Regional Games could be delivered on time, Police could not provide security needed at all of the regional centres, and he had to come up with a valid reason to cancel with the Games slotted a few months before an election. He didn't expect the fallout and never expected an Inquiry into the decision making.

Since COVID all they’ve done is go after Dan Andrews. Even when we was re-elected in an absolute landslide they’ve still gone him. It’s pretty obvious people wanted him in power. They just hate his guts.

Given it’s his media outlet that promotes an anti climate change agenda, anti indigenous progress, anti immigration of certain religious backgrounds, anti same sex / transgender progress, and a pro Catholic Church stance at any given opportunity, I’d say long term that amounts to being slightly concerning.

Listening to Tom Elliott yesterday, he said the concern is that if the Barengi Gadjin Land Council (BGLC) in Victoria operates anything like the new cultural heritage laws in WA then farmers may, for example, need permission to dig deeper than 50cm on their land, they will need permission to erect fencimg or cut down trees.

The HUN articles says the affected councils in NW Victoria claim they were not included in the negotiations to form Barengi Gadjin Land Council and were only made aware of the deal just over a month ago when it was presented to them as a “fait accompli”.

My concern is that if WA farmers get forced into these types of regulations that the government who enacted them should compensate any adversely impacted land owners if they want to promote new indigenous land laws.

Got to cut both ways.

When was the last time an LNP government in Victoria canned the Commonwealth Games 13 months after winning the right to the event, claiming costs had spiralled by more than 100% but refusing to provide any detail because the exit penalty was still being negotiated LOL?

Mate, you've gotta actually produce the goods, not just narrate a version of what you imagine(d) will or did happen.

As it stands now, he cancelled the games, public support is solid and I'm also in agreement with the decision.

The media are as always in hysterics but that hasn't and won't move the needle. You want me to care, then I need a reason.

Made some mistakes, sure, but Gladys B also let cases surge well beyond anything we saw down here because she refused to lock down to save face. At the end of the day I am someone that always takes precautions and have adjusted my life accordingly. People probably needed to do the same and make some sacrifices for public safety.
