I really can't read what Curtin will do at this stage. He was unhappy last year, but the majority of managers will tell their new draftees to see their initial contracts through, so I'm not surprised he didn't ask for a trade last year, but he always gives me the vibes that he could go.
The other thing is apparently he was a Freo supporter and didn't like West Coast, so il not even sure if he would go to WC if given the option of both Freo and WC.

Wasn't that due to being played out of position in the SANFL though? From memory, he started as a tall defender and struggled(because he's not one...), then was moved to midfield, where he shined.
Half our WA players were Freo supporters, I imagine it who you went for as a kid mostly gets out of your system once drafted.
Probably just as likely to stay, IMO.

Dan is happy at the Crows and is far more likely to sign an extension than request a trade at the end of this year or next.
If one of the WA clubs were to draft Cody and put a huge financial offer to Dan then that’s about as strong of an argument as you’re going to get but even then it still wouldn’t be a given.

There was two parts to it. He was homesick and wasn't getting played in the AFL team, and was getting moved around in the 2nds.
If you are homesick but playing in the AFL and doing well, it negates the first thing a bit. Being both homesick and playing in the 2nds, well there's no good to come from that.
Towards the end he got some good games in the forward line and midfield.
The second part of your post is exactly the thing with him. He could go to WC, or choose Freo as he loves them, or stay in Adelaide.
I can't pick it and haven't heard anything about him, other than he was homesick during parts of last year, which was well known around the club, and even WC as they were in his ear at the end of the year.
But, like I said, other than JHF, most managers will convince their players to stick it out for the first contract, and even sign an extension after the first one before looking at moving back.
His management is a pretty reputable one, so I have no doubt they will keep him firm for most likely the end of his first contract.

Still feel like he ends up back West, but if he does break out this year it will likely add a year or two to his time in Adelaide.

The allure of success makes players more comfortable. Last year, things looked a little bleak, now Adelaide are on the up. Similar to Murphy Reid at Freo, there were rumours he didn't want to leave Melbourne but has extended because Freo look like they will be contenders.
