With Freo missing out on Pickett and West Coast losing McGovern......there is a ton of money to be thrown about.

I'm worried.
Curtin has a contract for next season.

Why?

All the talk from him is wanting to stay & loving his time in Adelaide.

There is no reason to be worried.

There are far more important issues to be worried about, like WW3 breaking out.
The issue is that he hasn't signed an extension yet, and the club has been trying to get him to extend for awhile now.
That's why people are concerned. On top of that WC and Freo are really interested in getting him back there and WC have the ability to offer far more coin than we can.

Plus, I'm always worried when a young interstate kid has a girlfriend from home, as WAGS are the single biggest influence on what a player does. While he might be saying he is enjoying his time, we have no idea if she is just as happy here.

I'm not saying he is going to leave, as I have no mail on it, just talking about my gut feeling.

He is contracted for next season already!!!

Expect he will sign a new deal well before this season is over.

Way, way, way too early to get worried when he still has 1.5 years or half of his contract remaining!

Yeah, we all know he is contracted for another year. Its like you think players never leave while still in contract.
Even if he stays next year he still might leave at the end of it. Until he re-signs its expected that supporters will be worried about him, and the reasons they are worried is because he is from interstate, has an interstate girlfriend, and hasn't extended yet.

He is showing no signs of wanting to leave... yet you negative nellies spend an eternity worrying over nothing issues.

He will be playing for AFC next season. Put your house on it!

If they offer him $1M a year........

And we'll probably match it. Curtin is looking like he'll be too important to lose meekly.

All I'm saying is that if I was Curtin I'd be going HOME, at the end of next year, for a ton more money. It's a no brainer.

You are not Curtin & he has said he wants to stay.

Will be here next season & very likely beyond.

So now you are pessimistic not based on anything Curtin has said but based on what you personally would do... which has buggar all to do with anything!

You presume he wont get a good offer from the Crows? He looks better and better every game he plays...well mostly.

He may not be driven by money. Some players are mercs while others will happily live on the median wage or market rates because they feel at home in their current environment, and well to put it bluntely, they may not be dingbat financially and know what they are doing with investment, so the difference between a couple of $100K means nothing.

A player who plays 10 years on $500k income should be able to invest enough that they can live of their investments more than comfortably the rest of their life. its really that easy.

Curtin's decision, like that of every player, will be driven be several factors.

1) The money on the table
2) The relationships he's built here with his teammates, coaches, and other club staff
3) The probability of success at the various clubs being considered
4) The allure of playing at home, or for a club he grew up supporting

The above are in no particular order, and each player weights the factors a little differently. There's no way to know what Curtin values at this stage, and with his contract still in place for another fifteen months, him not having re-signed yet is not an indication of anything. His public statements have been positive, but of course they have been. He's not going to say anything negative at this point. So they're not really an indication of anything, either.

He might leave, he might not. He might stay, but bend us over a barrel in order to do so. There's no way of knowing at this point, so it's better to just enjoy the ride, and stay hopeful.

5) merely is happy playing for the one club and isnt driven by money....obviously within reason, low balling and not paying market rates is insulting.

He’d be silly to sign this year if he believes he’ll get better next year.
Cost himself plenty of money.

He's tracking well. Big improvement on last year and better again now than at the beginning of the season. His ceiling is enormous, maybe he becomes a Dawson/Hird type? At worst he looks like he'll be easily best 22 and be handy on a wing drifting forward. He also presents as a professional. Likeable, good manners and hints of Tony Modra when you glimpse that number 6.

But...

We've been in situations before. Tippett. Dangerfield. They cost us flags. They brought us pain.

We have a gun South Australian in Dyson Sharp at the top of the draft this year. Leadership. Midfield. Home grown. Gets it to Draper who kicks it to Thilthorpe and goal. Most likely Curtin's club of choice is the team that will have the golden ticket.

Do you do a deal?

Do you do a deal?

Shuestar13 - In a very hypothetical world, if Weagles got pick 2 compo with O Allen leaving - Would they put pick 2 on table for Curtin?

If (In the very very off chance) Dan wanted to go home, this could be about the fairest deal?
