If I was the list manager, Id be clearing a chunk of room for his next extension. The dudes a gun and looks like he has infinit potential at this stage. Another preseason in the gym he will almost certainly be able to roam the field and do what he wants when he wants without a care in the world, an opposition nightmare. The more I think about it, the more I think he is going to be better than Reid.

Plenty of salary cap space, but for a club in our position, attracting free agents or trade targets is the issue.

Will be a fair chunk earmarked for Harley.

We need a solid ruck and key defender. Reading your changes thread, would happily take Butts if we could get him, he’d be great 👍

The problem with a rebuild is salary cap can catch up on you fast, especially since the club has to pay a minimum of 95%. Its one thing to offer a mega deal to one player but two players is going to be almost impossible. Especially since you would think the Crows have a massive head start in building our list contracts around his next extension which is almost certainly going to be huge.

Really interested to see what position and type of player he turns into.
He could be a Brendon Goddard, he could be a Tex, he could be a Hird, or he could be that hybrid forward mid that every club wants like DeGoey.
Fascinating watch
Paul Roos?

Huge for the club. Had every reason to hold off till the end of the year. Including seeing where his brother lands. Both WA teams have been in his and his families ear.
The club is doing something very positive in this space and I have a feeling Rory Sloane has something to do with it.
He speaks very highly of the importance of getting people here to Adelaide rather than sending players home to see family and friends. I love watching him in the media because he still refers to Adelaide as “we”. Makes me think he still has a role at Adelaide and I think it’s working.

I think he’s just a guy that loves his club and he’s okay with admitting that bias.

Which is nice, because for years we’ve had Roo who seems so obsessed with not being biased on comms that he actively disparages us.

How about a Matthew Richardson? Spent some very good years as a forward and then reinvented himself as a dominant wingman / half forward.

Yeah agreed, it's been quite nice to have someone actively batting for us in the media whereas Roo seemed more focused on not pissing off his new Victorian mates.

I was happy to hear nicks mention him as a potential mid fielder.

A quality big body mid would release Dawson to a largely full time forward once Tex retires. Truth be known, if Dawson replaced Tex right now, our forward line gets a substantial upgrade because of better marking capability, better defensive running and better ground ball gets.

We can't afford Dawson out of the mid field yet though.

My questions over Curtin in the midfield is that he doesnt get alot of the ball. What ball he does get, he shows great skill. He has excellent marking abilities, which is suited more on the outside as a receiver of kicks, and he has nice disposal, which sets him up for being good at goal kicking and finding a player.

Obviously his size would be unique in the midfield, but its his tank and ball accumulation that I would question. As always, happy to be proven wrong if it does work out and we are a better team from it.

I think the last 10 minutes of a blown out game would be ideal develo... oh hmm

Forget I mentioned anything

I agree that his midfield traits are not obvious ATM. But I only comment because the senior coach said directly he could end up a mid.

But of course there are several thousands of posts here about the quality of that guys ability...🤪

Curtin's stoppage craft is an unknown

Probably not worth exploring it at this stage, even in dead Q4s. Just don't want young players shuffling through too many different roles while they're finding their feet

Preseason though, definitely have a look

I'd be hesitant to put too much weight on disposal counts for someone on the wing right now at Adelaide, as it's kind of clear we're all in on our half forward flankers doing the lion-share of work on the flanks.

When Lachie Sholl (who is a really good accumulator) struggles to get 20+, it's a sign that we're not too worried about our wings offensive output.
