He certainly hasn’t been covering the same kms as when he had those breakout games.

His best games he covered the most distance on the field and was pushing deep forward and back racking up the kms.

He needs to be told to get on his bike again.

Hope so. I hope the coaches are reflecting on what elements have brought out the best in each of our players this year and reminding them of their go to strengths. I appreciate in an elite sporting environment this is probably standard process and well understood but wouldn’t hurt to emphasise given the excitement and pressure of finals can cloud the mind.

Eg Curtin getting on his bike and covering ground deep back and forward is where he is most damaging

Tex not wrestling with opponents but working them into space one on one where he can use his footy smarts

The three headed monster maintaining separation and isolating defenders one of which is bound to be undersize

Keays and ANB with manic pressure and run creating an extra runner and overlap - even when they’re not used the sheer fact they provide a viable option draws an opposition player away from the ball carrier resulting in better delivery up the ground.

There are so many small elements in what our whole team has done, individually and collectively, that has contributed to where we are at. Reflecting on all of the selfless work rate that creates opportunity for team mates and bringing that to the table 3 more times can get this done for us.

For us, its absolutely crucial we win that qualifying final. Not only will that give Dan Curtin the rest needed pre finals and during finals to hopefully allow him to be at peak fitness and by extension peak form, but it will help Rachele etc still coming off longer term injuries to be be fresh and fit for the prelim

If im picking out positives from tonight one of the biggest is Curtin.

Did nothing wrong tonight, won most of his contests and used it well. He also looks to be a great on field leader already. Gives instructions, gets around every player, sticks up for team mates.

Future captain. Need to kick it to him more next year though

I agree with just about everything you said except I think you are being kind tonight.

I thought at times he got beaten in contest and just didn't have that much impact for a wingman.

He is gun but I think it's been a good month since he played good football.

Got beaten a few times tonight.

Great year for a young kid though.

Fair enough. Agreed his end to the season was a lot quieter, but thought he won most of his one on one's on the wing. We just didnt kick it to him often enough.

It's been a month since most of our team played good football. At least Curtin has the excuse of still only being a second year player.
