I'm shattered. I love watching him play, such a shame that he'll miss so much footy, but more importantly the rest of the finals for you guys. Hope he has a successful recovery.

He's pretty much our best forward at the moment so this definitely sucks. Hopefully doesn't hurt the team too much.

Really feel for him too, must be absolutely crushing. How long does an ACL keep you out for? I'm guessing he probably won't play for a lot of next season either?

Unbelievable... When I saw it I knew he was in trouble.. Feel so bad for him, absolute gun who is vital to our finals chances... Get well soon Menzel !

Hopefully he goes for the traditional reco and not the LARS as it seem's that the LARS just doesn't seem suited to AFL with at least three of the players who have had it have had to go back in to have it done again

He did it at Subi I think.
Wojo did his knee there one year and the next Kel broke his leg there

ACL recoveries generally take a full 12 months if they do the traditional operation.. He should be right by 12 months and back to 100%. I don't know about the chances of redoing it being any greater. As you can see they're pretty easy to do if you twist a certain way.

One of the worst injuries in football to come back from, almost always a 12 month lay off. Some players do lose pace and agility from them and are more susceptible to doing it again, but in general they aren't the career killers they used to be.

Terrible thing to happen to such a gem of a young player, it's early days so hope it's a misdiagnosis. Wish him all the best in his recovery.

Selwood, Wojak and Hunt from the cats i can think of.

Goodes, Richo, Rodan, Malceski, Bailey are a couple off the top of my head

Goodes has injured his knee, but never done anything serious like an ACL.

Just hope they stay away from the LARS, it hasn't had a good track record so far.

Wojo has done ACL before and is still a true speedster.
But have a look at Prismall, never recovered from the ACL in 2008 QF.
Different people have different fate.
Hope Menzel can come back.

Me too, I reckon this kid (only 19 years old! ) is one of those players that opposition supporters love watching.

He`s such a typical Geelong draft pick, a pure footballer.
