lol
Sav Rocca just punted and the receiver took the ball all the way up the other end and he was forced to lay a good old fashioned coat hanger and obliterated the Cowboys receiver and received a 15 metre penalty for his efforts :p

Gridiron. Just need to watch it with Americans who explain the game and sometimes players backstories to you. AMAZING game. I love it.Anyone got a team they follow? IM a Cardinals fan of sorts.

Im a Saints fan but I "like" a few teams since I only watch it on FTV.
Pats, Packers, Broncos (BIG Manning fan) and for some reason the Steelers but Saints over all of them.
I think I tend to like strong offences with excellent QBs since looking at the list all but maybe the Steelers have AWESOME QBs.

I don't have any Carlton, but I do have an unopened box of Pale Ale that I got from my work Christmas break up which is in the fridge and is calling my name! I was thinking today "if only I had said G'day to Menz". I don't have many regrets in life so far, but perhaps this may end up being one. I wish I hadn't seen him now, or listened to the wife! :(

Listen to to Bobby and that will quickly change.

Listen heretics!! There is only one game of football.

All others are pale shadows in comparison.

Am I missing something? Firstly I thought this was about Dan Menzel, not what NFL team you follow :P. Secondly, has he re-ruptured his ACL since his strain? So many posts basically stating his career is over. I mean would you bury someone just because they suffered, say a stroke? Yes there are a lot of unknowns but all the doom and gloom over his knees is also premature. He has had 2 ACLs but both were caused from coming into contact with other players. We don't know for certain it's genetic. Could be just bad luck. I would have been more worried if he did the same knee twice than each knee individually. It does bring Egan to mind but ultimately he chose to push his injury in the hope to play in a GF. I don't expect Menzel to play NAB Cup or even Round 1. But his career isn't over until it's actually over. Go Menz

Thought I had read somewhere, soon after the initial incident, that Dan had felt the acl go as he bent to gather the ball.
Would appear it tore as he was turned off-balance from the tackler and hit the brakes to dish-off prior to front-on contact.
Not a good look in manual frame-by-frame with his lower-leg caught between 29's(?) legs (best viewed in YT full screen).

Incorrect, both injuries were NON-CONTACT. That is a worry, and certainly different from contact, bad luck trauma.
We don't know what current injury there is. Until we see him training again, there will be speculation and anxiety, naturally.

But keep in mind that the mail was at the beginning of the 2012 season - Vardy will never pull on a boot again.

Does anyone think the GFC know more than they release to us fans re Menzel, Smedts, Caddy, Varcoe, McCarthy and HMac - who are all under an injury cloud as I write ? Or perhaps some of these injuries are just too hard to tell what is the prognosis and when they will likely return to footy ?

It would be good, I believe, for the club to make some announcements re the injuries they think they have a handle on and say which ones are still really unknown about. I do not see the harm in informing Cat fans what the situation really is. It just seems like a culture of not saying much about injuries has grown up around footy in general and especially at the GFC.

Letting us know when we will know more - surely would not hurt the club and allow another club to have an advantage over us during Janurary ?

There are a heap of dedicated, even passionate, fans who would like some more info in the off season. About time I think that clubs realise their bread and butter is memberships and being more inclusive re fans would be a good thing.

Is he still using those stupid thongs he was wearing up that mountain this time last year?

The first ACL his leg came into contact with Puopolo's when he tried to kick at the ball. That resulted in his knee hyperextending beyond its normal motion. That is non-contact? Hardly. Josh Hunt did his knee in 09 pretty much the same way and hasn't had any real issues since. The 2nd ACL isn't as clear but looked worse. I understand the speculation and anxiety but to be digging the guy an early grave is still absurd to me. It's time to be realistic and cautious but not pessimistic. I expect him to make a come back this year but when and how it goes who knows. I'd hate for him to read the stuff in this forum or he'd slit his writs from all the negativity. Just saying...
