I'm more positive after reading this article. At the time the article was written in early 2012 there were six players who had undergone LARS and returned to football, all but one coming off a previously injured knee. Three of the six re injured their knee after getting LARS so that's a 50% success rate, the worst case scenario being Brent staker who re injured his knee after coming back and playing 5 games. He and the other two (malceski and rodan) are fully fit now arnt they? As well as brad Fischer, Campbell heath and josh Drummond who came back successfully from LARS operations.

Some of the negativity here is ridiculous. Maybe it comes from having over the top expectations. For me if menzel can play just 5 games this year (like the worst case LARS scenario Brent staker, who is now over his injuries) that would be a bonus.

YPO is, of course, entitled to his viewpoint. However, he doesn’t seem to have much idea of how a sporting club functions and what its principle responsibilities are. Nor does he appear to have much insight into the primacy of players’ rights to privacy either.

YPO is, of course, entitled to his viewpoint.Thank you.

However, he doesn't seem to have much idea of how a sporting club functions and what its principle responsibilities are. True I don't, but I don't know how electricity works either but I can boil a jug.And I'm betting keeping members informed as to what is happening inside the club (not only injuries) is right up there as one of the key principle responsibilities.

Nor does he appear to have much insight into the primacy of players’ rights to privacy either.
I except there are many things where the players right in fact everybody's right to privacy should be respected,I am simply unconvinced this is one of them, again just my opinion no big deal.

You may like to revisit your electricity simile as it sort of supports my position. ;)

What I expect from the club is that it is well run; there is a strong culture; we have a competitive on field presence; we are respected and we have a strong sustainable organisation.

Certainly communicating with supporters is important. However, there are times when the club will be forthcoming and others when it won’t. Just the same as in any business when there are some matters that staff will be told about at the time, some after the event, and some they will never know.

When it comes to players their interests always come first. And I think nearly every supporter appreciates that. It is one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s key principles for club success. As he said during an address to Harvard University "Football management ... in the end is all about the players”

It doesn’t bother me one iota that I found out Menz had the Lars weeks after the surgery if that is what the club thought was in his and the clubs best interests. The same applies to the club withholding information about Simon Hogan until he and the club thought it to be the right time to release it.

We have a strong, sustainable organisation that is the envy of most other sporting bodies. A club that is giving us the ride of our lives. They know what they are doing.

And then you have a stalker like YPO who needs every details given to the public straight away...

:)

Very unfortunate setback but by no means is it career ending.
How many believed Steve Johnson would ever come back from his ankle injuries and become one of our greatest ever players?

Menz has had his fair share of unnecessary setbacks but while some may suggest he'll never be the same nor make it in this league after the comeback, others understand this game is largely played above the shoulders and the mental fortitude is what usually separates the also-rans from the champs and so far...Menzel has been all class in this regard, I am very confident he is past his knee problems and am so looking forward to seeing no.10 running around by sometime early in the coming season.

Greatly appreciate the constant updates by fellow Cat supporters who go and watch the boys train over the long summer and share us their views :thumbsu:

Well send Menz away for a year let him use steroids to aid a full recovery. The way he is going he won't have a career. It could be argued that in such a case steroids are not performance enhancing but a recovery aid.

I don't think that that is an argument that should be entertained at this very moment.

but I don't know how electricity works either
I can help mate.

Electricity is a lot like humans.
It follows the path with the least resistance. i.e. Everyone takes the easy option.

So if a mate is doing electrical work and he wants you to hold his hand, make sure you connect him to an earth rod first and you'll be fine.

What else do you need to know?

"halfway into my rehab today on my 3rd reco, back running and it feels incredibly strong!
Thanks for everyone's continued support!"

Menz recent tweet :thumbsu:

Good on ya Menz!

I hope so.
He deserves some good luck for a change, he's an amazingly upbeat kid though considering.
Well done Dan, with his attitude I dont think theres much doubt he will come out of this with no issues (similar to Kellys leg and Wojos knee).

it's one of those unfortunate situations which can actually gel players closer to another and create greater harmony when you have individuals faced with adversity such as what Daniel has been placed with the last 12-18 months.
Johnson, Lonergan, Stokes, Stringer, Menzel....when the club stands behind their player it can have a fantastic effect in the long term and one gets the feeling we have not seen the last of Menzel :)

Really hoping for the kid's sake he can have a career, fantastic talent a d seems down to earth and a good head on his shoulder.

I still watch the 2011 highlights DVD and marvel at what he could do.
His ceiling is enormous, heres hoping he can still reach it!
I agree aswell, our club is fantastic rallying around injured players.

yep, you remember that final v Hawthorn before his knee went?
Was causing all sorts of worries and had 3 marks, 3 kicks to go along with his 2 goals at quarter time...I remember thinking to myself 'this boy's arrived' and then pop!
Down he went.

the first few times i watched it i was convinced i had bought the 'menzel pack' by mistake. he was everywhere.

the main thing i want from football this year is for him to get to the end of the season with no injuries.
