But if he goes GWS, it means we can't lose Leuey or Clark as well to them, unless we agree to it. If we agree to trade Rich to WC, as opposed to him going to GWS and receiving compensation, we could still lose Clark or Leuey to GWS.

You still owe us for taking Dalziel and paying him his superannuation

Yea that was a crowning glory moment for Woodhouse wasnt it:rolleyes: Added to that we handed over #36 as well - Jen Hawkins was obviously topless doing the negotiations for Brissie that day

Effectively (for us) it was Pick 22 and Dalziell for Staker and Seaby

Ignoring Dalziell - I think Pick 22 was a quality outcome given neither were getting regular games for a bottom 8 side nor were part of plans going forward.

Sure we gave away some latter picks - but we weren't using them so it cost us nil - our goal was to condense towards the pointy end the picks we did have.

That pick netted us either of Weedon or Stevens

Clark's gone IMO.

Regardless - based on our previous trading experience - if Rich is coming to WC - both clubs will sort out a deal prior to trade week.

Personally I think it will be as simple as our first pick.

If you blokes lost Rich and Clark someone needs to get sacked, I really hope it happens (If we get Rich) but my god!

Youd hope that a bit of karma comes your way and these kids your picking up with those draft picks become awesome...

Also.. I dont think Leuey will go, which at least means you have a decent ruckman going forward.

Brad Ebert and our future 3rd round pick that we received for swapping with the Pies last year, for Daniel Rich and Brisbane's 4th round pick.

Happens all the time Bod - think back 3 years. You dont need to induce anybody to break a contract you just simply advise the player through his manager how good life is back home, how his friends and family are missing him terribly, and how money is not a problem should he be keen to relocate.

Its simply a measure of sowing some seeds and seeing what grows

True.

We seem to be sowing those seeds pretty hard though, harder then just a casual mention to his manager.

I'm so sick of people putting up stupid, ridiculously one sided trades!

I mean comeon, dont try to beat around the bush with swapping draft positions this and that ect ect, Brad Ebert for Daniel rich?? Asif

If u want quality, you have to be prepared to give up quality (which i think will most likely be in the form of our first round pick or whatever picks we may possibly get from GWS…)

I think even if he says he only wants to come to the eagles it'll still cost us our first rounder, a player and possibly the third rounder we got from collingwood last year.

WCE: Rich

Brisbane: 1st pick, Ebert/Smith + sweetener.
If Rich wants to come to WCE and is out of contract, then Brisbane are in a weak bargaining position. There would be only two possible suitors and Fremantle may not be interested and/or Rich may not be interested in them. Don't see us having to pay as much as you suggest.

From my experience we've never been the sort of team that actively tries to screw others in trades. We generally try and get a fair deal done with all parties as happy as possible to promote positive trades in the future. If rich leaves i think brisbane will want 2 first rounders and one of our lower end players. I think we will counter with 1 first rounder and a solid prospect and we'll settle with a first rounder, a solid prospect and the third rounder we got from collingwood.

This is assuming i am correct and rich has a really good season for brisbane. If however he was injured for much of the season then things would obviously change a fair bit. Granted also if he has a bad season a swap for our first round pick and maybe some loose change from our end might get it done but i really just dont see that happening.

Anything else you want to give them?

I think our first pick will get the job done if Rich declares he wants to come home.

Consider this my reply, as it pretty much covered it haha:

I don't mind if it's overpaying, I don't like Ebert (Voss does though) and Smith I have a hunch will leave soon anyway, plus the sweetener was meant to be a Lynch/Nicoski/3rd pick if they wanted it :p

First round on it's own wouldn't do it IMO.

I think a first round by itself just about would, but it depends on where we finish.

If it's a pick outside the top 8 then yes you'd probably have to throw in a player or exchange of picks. Honestly no idea who we'd give up though - maybe someone like Schofield.

Of course you have to look at it from the other angle as well - Rich may not be the better option against whoever that draft pick could acquire (not sure how strong this year's draft is looking yet).

Don't think it will happen, I reckon he'll stay.

If he does come back, I reckon it will take more than a first rounder, Freo will offer up something decent.

Which of our blokes would want to go to Brisbane though? There is no way Ebert would go. Maybe a young bloke who can't crack a game might head over.

trades aside..i think the inclusion of Rich should definitely equate to saying farewell to two of our plodders/shockers!..and what a good thing that is!

also how would you rate him in the midfield=
1-masten,2-swift,3-rich? (;
ok=
1-rich,2-shuey.3-kerr?

how many goals did he kick last year?

(maybe theyd take dalziell back?)

When we finish in the eight this year :) , we will give our first pick say 18 plus a player ( maybe Rosa :( quality ) plus our third round pick ( Collingwood pick 45 ) .

Brisbane better not thrash Rich this year , but I think Vossy will treat him well :thumbsu:

I would say the Eagles thoughts on pre drafting Yarran might slide a little if we trade for Rich and I expect Rich to Captain our Club and I for one would be rapt !!!

The Brions are announcing their Vice Captains soon (this week i think) and they will be chosen from a group of six that includes Mitch Clark, Bam Bam Rich and Lewie.

Do you think things will change if Daniel Rich is made Vice Captain? (would certainly be ominous if he isn't selected!!)

alot depends on how rich plays this year.
will definately take a 1st rounder and i hope voss still loves swift.
