Daniel Rich hasn't been included in the leadership group at Brisbane

The Lions have selected Drummond , Rockliff and Clark as deputies to Brown , Adcock and Merrett .

Another sign that Rich may be looking elsewhere , but I wouldn't have a clue really :o
And Clark is?

Wow....

They obviously know how big the pull is to come back home. They are pulling out all stops to keep him

I have heard the same Metalgrind, they are working overtime trying to keep him there.

They will use that extra salary cap they get to try keep him.

Is it just us? Or are Freo a chance too?

If we have to give up a player we should offer up Ash Hams. Going by this board they should be considered about equal value. Hell, going by this board Brisbane might have to throw in a 2nd round pick as a sweetner.

i offer lynch - get him to change his first name to alistair and watch crazy vossy salivate

We should have bulk room in our cap to easily satisfy signing lewis jetta and rich. They are still relatively young players that won't command the big dollars until their next contract. So sign them on 200k per year for 5 years. Performance clauses included.

Plus if they want to play for us that badly and be home with their family, they will accept less.

Problem is satisfying a trade. Rich should be easy as we can easily beat what the compensation from GWS. Plus we have Ebert who Vossy loves.

Lewis Jetta will be the hard one. Swans do like recycled players though.

It is a massive pipedream, but I will dream :D

Can you give me the date of the latest article that quotes voss saying he loves ebert?

Vossy's love of Ebert was at the AIS, so before he actually saw how Ebert kicked at AFL level. Probably hates him now.

That is right. From when Ebert was part of AIS before being drafted. His disposal would have been the same no doubt. You can't just go from being a decent kick of the football to being shit.

Does any one know if the team who finishes last this year gets the first pick in the preseason draft?

He is clearly enjoying his football with us and i can see him improving again this year, too much has been made of his 19 behinds in a row kicking about 7 goals and 2 behinds late in the season.

With the introduction of the second team in Sydney his excitement factor is more important to us than ever and will do everything in our power to keep him not only for that reason but because he is a quality player and person the type of player you want at the club.

Unless you have the first pick in the pre season draft you will need to offer a very good pick or player to get a deal done and i see few players we would consider in a straight swap.

As far a draft picks are concerned you would need to offer a top ten pick and if you are chasing Rich as well then you will need to decide which one you want most. You are likely to finish in the bottom few teams this year and recieve a pick between 4 and 8, pick four you probably wouldnt offer and eight or six isnt enough to get both players.

Facts that may work to your advantage are:

1) Rich hasnt been selected in the Brisbane leadership group, could be similar to when Judd didnt want to be captain at West Coast until he was the only real option and left soon afterwards. Could be a sign he is unhappy but i expect him to stay with Brisbane.

2) Lewis Jetta has just had a son with his Perth born girlfriend who only recently moved to Sydney and moving closer to both their families for support may be desireable. Sydney may show compassion for a young player who has recently had a son and wants family support.

No doubt both a pick and a player of some sort will be needed to get both Rich and Jetta.

Pick 6 or 8 may be enough to land Rich if he is dead set keen to go, may need something else.

The lowest pick would be used to get Rich most likely so that leaves a 2nd rounder left to offer the Swans as a starting point, which is no where near good enough.

Look at the Swans list and I can see they need replacements for Bradshaw and both Boltons, decent midfielders are always in demand.

Our 2nd rounder will be pick 33ish most likely so a decent player is needed.

Koby Stevens (replaces Jude as tough inside mid) + pick 33 maybe.

Rosa (replaces Jetta on the wing) + 33 maybe.

We also have a early 3rd compo pick from Collingwood that can be traded and banked for future years in an uncompromised draft. Also if we lose a player to GWS we could end up with another compo pick which could be traded.

Fair bit of water under the bridge to go until then.

First round pick + smith/jojo or someone of similar worth for rich and thats only if he dead set wants to come here otherwise i think it will cost more.

2nd round pick, 3 round compensation pick + wilson for jetta. Again only if he really wants to come home otherwise it will cost a lot more and im not really sure i want to remortgage the house for him.

(also worth noting that while i rate wilson i just dont think he's going to get the opportunities he deserves. Think he could kick 40-60 goals for someone like the swans next year and be lauded as another hugely successful sydney success story)

Lastly for a team i used to despise to much im finding it difficult to keep sydney players out of my dreamteam.....
