Howe interviewed on ch9 said that they back Moore in and admit he made some poor decisions against Richmond.

Moore was not the only one that did that vs Richmond on Saturday

Spot on.
They are effectively useless overhead - marking or spoiling.
It is very frustrating seeing how far off our defenders play, they all do it.
Then they point to another defender to pick up their man while they stand in “their spot”.
Maybe that is why Moore is #8 in the league atm for 1 percenters because that has become his role.

Darcy does show poor body language at times-not good in a future potential leader.
I believe in Darcy , but there was one moment , I think after Lynch kicked his fourth on him , the whole backline got together to discuss and refocus on the job at hand , Howe was looking at Darcy to join the huddle , Moore , despondent and flat , stood on his lonesome , far removed. Not a good look , Not leadership qualities . Man up Darcy , it is a back 6 unit group , that been one in , all in .

Agree. I think it’s something we need to rethink.
‘Maybe we can have 1 of them down back but not 2.
‘I’d like to see Nick move forward.
Time for Nick to move forward or where he will do his best work , In the middle . Forwards will be licking their lips waiting for the silver platter service delivered lace out into their bread basket. Oh Happy Days

Yep my point. When he stood next to Lynch he outmarked him a couple of times, he just played dumb unaccountable footy in the 1st half.

Some poor kicks to Lynch 2nd half too which helped Moore, also started guarding corridor side more.

Yeah but forwards cannot expect perfect kicks all the time as he had pretty good service probably a lot due to lack of pressure from our mids.

1 Bad Game and everyone is Trade Him he is on too big of a Contract and he is a Dud

Happy Eddie Murphy GIF by Laff

Wasn’t even a bad game per se Dave, just had some ordinary moments.

Imagine when he does have a really bad game.

Moore as always tried to do the work of 3 players and ended up doing almost nothing in the first half. Second half he was excellent. He needs to trust his teamates more to do their jobs and cover the most important forward and even beat him 1 v 1. Hopefully next week he destroys Norton or whoever he matches up on and leaves the intercept role to someone on a lesser opponent.

That's the most annoying thing. You want Darcy playing on the guns. The opposition kicking it to their gun and Darcy beating him or killing the contest with a big fist.

He's not one who needs to zone off hard to make uncontested intercepts . He will get enough by beating his man.

Darcy did have a shocker against Richmond,
But I expect him to rebound strongly with the expected return of Jack Madgen.

We don’t have to. He had a really bad game against Richmond. It was comically bad for him. And I’m sure he will bounce back.

Nah, 50/50 for mine. A really bad game is reflected across 4 quarters. Made some poor calls in the 1st half and just about every one came back to bite him. He’ll have a lot of games where he makes equal numbers of poor calls that just don’t impact.

Did Lynch have a 50/50 game, as he was relatively quiet in the second half?

Interesting question. Reduced to something like 8 possession and goal after half time so definitely quieter. Reality is though he was the best KPP in the game and 8 possessions and a goal could arguably be a good day for a KPF, let alone a half. I’d say not.

Lynch was on fire in the (1st half) and gave the tigers confidence and off they went there was no coming back.
Not to mention the goals Lynch and also goals created etc to his teammates.
Just my view on Darcy's game.

McRae mentioned this today but part of the reason he was on fire is because it was our worst pressure game thus far. Their mids simply had it way too easy which made it easier for Lynch.

Tigers should Kicked more in the 1st Half as they missed some Sitters

True Cotchin was everywhere in the 1st half.

Yep this. Midfield dominance certainly aided him. He still had to take the marks, crumb the spills, and kick the goals. He did all of that.

Agree and the most damning thing about Moore is that he chose to go nowhere near Lynch regardless of the lack of pressure upfield. And it was that old saying the definition of insanity is...he kept away from him despite all the goals Lynch was kickin

Not sure defensive groups go into a game expecting a lack of pressure upfield when it’s not the norm, or for the footy to be so easily turned over. Clearing the footy from D50 a time to reset the defence and catch breath I’d have thought. Maybe look to interchange if needed.

Lets not also forget that Lynch was red hot coming into the game kicking 7.5 against the McGovern led backline with 8 contested marks....
