If we are a team deadset on playing finals, we should keep Moore to develop his craft in the VFL and only replace White based on actual output rather than promise. Moore is highly promising sure, but as of yet, he cannot match the output on White on a consistent basis. Performance/form is what should determine one's spot in the seniors. Besides, I think White would actually be close to a best 22 roleplayer if he didn't have a pea heart and missed vital set shots or (and this pisses me off more since half our team can't kick pressure set shots anyway) not charge at the ball when he has open room to make or smash a contest.

I've got a similar view towards playing De Goey in the VFL until he can earn a spot, especially now that we have Treloar.

So I guess you would send all the Kids down to the VFL and Play Mature Agers.

So would you also then Play Aish in the VFL?

Darcy Moore will only turn 20 in 3 weeks time. I think we should be hope he's played a handful of games and hope he plays some more this year to continue learning the ropes at AFL level and continuing his development. I am sure he will play some good games and some bad games and get plenty of knocks from people on Big Footy because he's not playing as well as some people hoped.
My thoughts are that he's only a kid and we need to give him plenty of time before expecting him to be the savior in our forward line. I just want to see improvement in 2016.

As long he competes like he id last year he'll be fine.

I'm not for keeping kids in the VFL just because, I'm just against gifting games that aren't based mostly on output. If you want to accelerate development as a lower end team, sure. But if we want to play finals, we can't really afford to play anyone but the best performed.

Darcy's played some games at AFL level, he knows what's required and he's shown a bit, though he's also far from the finished product. What I want is a very strong month or two in the VFL to the point where selectors can't ignore his output and he forces White out, rather than being handed the games from round 1.

As for Aish, would I play him in the VFL? That's a tough one. I don't think he's a lock in our 22 at all right now. Things can quickly change and I imagine he will be a best 22 player easily over the journey, but if he performs poorly over the preseason and Oxley/Maynard/Sinclair/Ramsay gun it, then I wouldn't ignore that, especially with Varcoe and Sidebottom not looking like they'll be slowing down for a while.

With all of Moore, Aish, Howe and to a lesser extent De Goey (played a lot of the season initially because Greenwood was unfit, I don't see him missing many senior games but it's very possible) they'll be using the NAB Challenge series to prove that they should all be a part of the 1s and I expect we'll see all of them achieve that. Of course should they fail in doing so then they may begin the season in the VFL.

Given that Rusty turned 25 just two days ago, I don't think slowing down is on the agenda for a long time yet!

Maybe the Kids did hit Marks they like to see before getting a Game. They might have Different Things then what Fans think they need to do

I don't see Aish Battling with those you Named for a Spot in the Side. I see him more Wing ad HFF then HBF

I think this side has enormous upside just like out 2010 side. If you can recall the grand final side had 5-6 players in it that were not considered best 22 at the start of the season. Players like Fraser, Medhurst, Anthony, OBree, and Lockyer fell out of the side and players like Presti, and Davis did not play in the one that counted.

Jesse white shouldn't be in a team that plays finals, hasn't been a strong finals performer over the journey.

I agree that no one should be gifted games however I'm not sure White offers much in any case, not a marking target, unreliable in front of goals, goes to water under pressure and not really a physical presence on the field despite his size.

I'd rather play moore and if he has a bit of a down spell bring in white. given white has almost played 100 games more his statistical superiority for 2015 isn't terribly much and for a medium to long term goal i would rather play someone who looks like they could be something other than a list clogger.

.
Other than that he's great !!!

We can play White, Moore and Cloke in the same forwardline you know. I just hope either Cox shows he's AFL material or Witts shows he can play up forward and go past White.

As for Moore, he earned his spot in the side last year, its up to White and others to go past him. Its Moore's spot to lose.

That's where its important to not hinder the development of Moore when Whites output isn't much better.

Play Moore, more!

There is this myth that players need to be playing AFL to develop faster. I don't necessarily agree with this. Moore may be better served playing the number one key forward in the VFL than second or third forward in AFL for half a season before being elevated. He can learn our patterns and refine his craft without the pressure of the AFL.

Playing Moore, DeGooey etc in the VFL for an extended period will not necessarily stunt their growth. They can practice their craft in the roles we expect then to assume in the long term at AFL level.

i agree that vfl is a great training ground for young players however imo playing at a higher level is more beneficial (if the player is up to it), its what gives clubs in footballing states an advantage over the qld and nsw teams. adjusting to pace of the game, playing against top quality defenders and learning what is required as well as learning first hand from cloke.

i would expect moores numbers to improve in 2016 over 2015 given improved fitness, added size and increased strength. given this i don't understand what benefit playing white brings.

Again, why is this a White v Moore? they can coexist.

The benifit would be Moore wouldn't have to second ruck and we'd have a mobile forwardline.

mainly because i don't rate white as a ruckman and with the removal of sub rule i can see clubs move towards playing two rucks and therefore see his best chance for a spot is against moore for the second forward role.

though get your point that white could be selected as the ruck/forward however id prefer witts

I'm not sold on Witts' forward ability yet but I'd like to see hows improved in the pre-season.

i think i like him purely because of his huge size, just want a sandilands type monster on our team! i will say i do like his ability below his knees for someone of his height & bulk and rate his second efforts. as a forward whites ahead so its more if you want the third tall to be a more capable ruck or a more capable forward.

can see us opting for white over witts given he is a better forward, witts would play more minutes in the ruck then white which pushes grundy out of there for longer and i don't rate him too highly up forward. i just find we get killed when white is in the middle. tough call though, some experimenting during the season will be done im sure.

Apologies for going a bit off topic!

Agree with this, I would prefer to see a Witts/Grundy combination play the third tall replacing White. Will also depend on the opposition as to the structure we employ.
