Yep, compared with last year but they did say that he was forced to play deeper because Rough was not there. Last night playing more up the ground the intercepting game was there again which is a hopeful sign moving forward. I also reckon that Howe has not been as good and Maynard and Quaynor have been a bit inconsistent. Maybe this is also because our butchering midfielders put us under so much pressure.

Don't play him on good forwards or put him forward. He gets alot of goals kicked on him, for the reputation he has.

Moore is a fantastic player but is suspect 1-1.

If he wasn’t the only key defender we currently had available I’d say throw him forward. Honestly I’m at the point where I hope we target the best key defender we can from the state leagues in the MSD, and hopefully have Roughy, Dean and (insert player here) cover those tall spots down back.
Test him as a key forward for an extended period, because he’s becoming a liability within this defensive structure.

When Moore originally played down back he was more accountable. I think he needs to tweak a few things. I dont think him or Howe will be as effective as they were under Bucks which is fine as other parts of the game plan counter that and they are both still really good players. The other side with Moore is under Bucks he was a 30 goal a year key forward and superstar attacking CHB under Macrae he could be a 50 year key forward. But we need a other key defenders to enable this.

You learn from defeats like this so this maybe a touch of a blessing going forward.

Without a Stay at Home Big Full Back Moore can be Useless

8 games in (without our full back) and two games without our ruckman who can drop back to assist....is it any wonder we got towelled by the best 1/2 forwards in the comp. Its been exposed previously by Hawkins and Cameron as well as Daniher/McStay and Kennedy/Darling. WE LACK BIG KPD!
Moore and Howe rely on team defence which just wasn't on offer today. Was Madgen dropped the wrong week? Bruzzy and IQ both looked out of sorts as well and Pendles and Nick D are just not defenders. Still for all that we got within 5 goals when we really ought to have been done by 10 on run of play.
The system works, we've just got to get better at it for longer (and a few better cattle wouldn't hurt also)

Begg's competitive will was again on show (though his lack of kg's and core strength was also evident). AND he drops to his knees too quickly in searching for ground balls.
Henry and Ginnivan did their jobs and Checkers tried his guts out against 2 defenders all day. McCreery needed to nail his shots but he worked hard.
Sidey was quiet again and probably could have a rest for Poulter in the next round (although they don't usually like playing blokes after a bye) whilst Bianco offers no more than Murley, Harrison or McCrae would.

Cameron and Begg tried hard but Cameron doesn't get to as many contests as he should (defensively) whilst Beggy is just a big scruffy puppy at the moment (lots of potential and heart though)

Hopefully IQ pulls up alright, he's desperately needed next week against the Doggies.

Thought Lipinski, DeGoey and Crisp worked hard in the middle but Adams seems "tight" and unable to extract the ball where he once might have.

All in all it was pretty much as expected. They had their strongest team of the year and we had our weakest.

The bloke that hit Ginnivan in that scrap on the ground, he deserves 2 weeks for a dog act. (gutless)

Disagree Dave he disrespects his opponent too much this year IM…………..today if he played like Mick Gayfer we win.

Dunno if you remember JB but Gayfe ended up getting "umpired" out of the game so I don't think Moore could play like that. And if you shut down Lynch to say 3 goals...Jack and Dusty then get busy. Howe was unable to impact at all on anyone he played against today. Quaynor and Maynard as well. I don't know how we got so close to tell you the truth.

Moore is not even an ordinary one on one defender - he's purely an intercept player.

I get that mate but he should have played shoulder to shoulder today……..l know it’s old school but it would have made a difference today especially early when the game was on the line.

Who knows what instructions they had? Hard to follow as personell hasn't changed that much this year.
