Zero chance that is even entertained on our end.

We're actively trying to acquire another draft pick in the top 30. I doubt we would be trading 6 and 24 for any player in the competition right now.

I'll be surprised if he leaves Essendon. I'd be even more surprised if he left and came to us and all we had to give up was pick 24.

I doubt he leaves this off-season. But we won’t be letting him go this year unless it’s for a top 10 pick.

We'd be arguably the worst fit for him out of all 18 clubs in the AFL. I like him, but I have no idea what moving on Tom Mitchell for peanuts and acquiring Parish for the likely asking price would do to benefit our list.

As a free agent I could see it but as you say hard to justify as a trade

That's fair, but he wouldn't go without 6 on the table at a minimum. Maybe a player on top instead but not sure who that would be.

Why would a team at the beginning of a rebuild trade out a top 10 pick for a player they could acquire in 12 months time as a free agent?

I couldn't imagine, with the deficiencies that exist in our midfield, that we'd prioritise Darcy Parish above pick 6. Especially if there exists the possibility that in 12 months time we could have both if we wanted to prioritise his signature then.

he is not a free agent, he is a restricted free agent.

Essendon can match the offer and force a trade.

Clubs do not let players of Darcy's calibre leave the club for free. It simply does not happen, so even thinking it a possibility is just dumb.

Clubs matching offers happens far more than AA players leaving clubs for free though. There is no way that happens, that's all my point is.

The bloke made the AA sqaud last season and was racking up 30 plus every week not as good as last year but was still a pretty good.

And considering his contracted for another year he's absolutely worth a first rnd pick.

Essendon won't let him go this year unless they get a really good offer in return imo.

He was All Australian last year and finished 5th in the Brownlow, 9th in the Coaches award. That's the basis of the argument, not what you said.

The fact you wouldn't give a first round pick for him says how little your opinion is worth. And I've been the leader in the trade Parish bandwagon all year.
