Lipitor was supposedly "fine".

These and many other drugs have been approved for therapeutic use but major problems emerged despite proper trials, your claim that any risk is unlikely or hypothetical is a load of clap trap.

I see where you are coming from and i accept that. But given there are other peptides that are similar that have been approved and shown to be safe, i don't think the risk is signifigant
 
It's not the penalties and suspensions essendon fans should fear. They will come and go. But if Hird stays, all out factional warfare will tear the club apart. If essendon go down, don't think everyone will be happy that the coach, who was involved, is still around. Remember what happened after sheedy left. This will be an all out war as fingers start to get pointed.

When fines start coming in, and reputations even further start to get damaged, everyone will defend their positions, as Hird has done on weekend with Evans. Panic will set in. Things will get leaked, half truths, own agendas. Power plays. Not to mention that the playing group will be split right down the middle about who is at fault.

Just watched Richmond, the lost years and I can see years of turmoil for essendon to get their own house in order. Even a slight ripple in a club, where people aren't on the same page on critical issues, can rip the club apart.

That's what I'd be more worried about than any penalties. I almost feel sorry for essendon. Always have for the players. Hird, no. He can't tell me 40 players never mentioned anything to him, that perhaps drugs were illegal? Pleading stupid cannot be an excuse for using peds. Massive ramifications if its allowed. Massive.

This is a cultural anachronism that the afl cant afford anymore. The players have had it made clear to them that they are responsible no one else.

If this case doesn't set the example then clubs will go on paying lip service to that concept for years.

Expect lengthy bans regardless.

If they had done so they would have discovered that AOD-9604 is not approved for human therapeutic use anywhere in the world and many of the other drugs that appear on the consent forms are not approved for therapeutic use in Australia.

So what the hell was this person with medical expertise at Essendon doing oking their use on Essendons players?

Why would you want to hear from "a disgruntled player who was delisted from the football club, who very rarely turned up to pre-season training in any sort of form that resembled a professional footballer." in the first place?

McVeigh's well thought out opinions are good enough for me. Maybe Lloydy* if the going gets tough.

*Currently on record that Gumbleton for Yarran is a fair trade.

Question -if Essendon have never taken banned substances and are not drug cheats why was he so stressed?

Surely they are only a week away from being in a very good place?
