"I was pretty surprised [about being medical sub]. I thought I'd been doing enough to warrant playing week-to-week, but that was the coach's decision and I had to cop it on the chin," Murphy said."

The above quote is damning! If a player who has been underperforming hasn't got the foggiest idea he's not doing enough and is on the precipice of being dropped that's on the coaching group and head coach. What the hell is being reviewed and told to the players??

Teague sees them most days a week, even a 5 minute chat to say, "Hey Smurph... last game you showed no intent to defend or play both ways! If that keeps up you'll leave me no option to put you out for a spell. Work on it, mate!"

I like most of this, but harsh on Fogarty and Ed, who are giving everything and getting results.

There's still a place for them in the 22.

Given Worsfold is doing the gig remotely, do you honestly think that the club isn't recording the coaching box and meetings/reviews/sessions for him to observe and review?
Is there any evidence of this happening?

The mentor thing, was already happening prior to the club announcing it in the media as a response to the pressure on Teague.

Id say this was just a solution to placate the masses. So In saying all that, its highly dubious theyd be recording anything.

Anyways, being in the box or around the club cant be replicated digitally.

Ross the Boss at least looks like he has a clue, lost 3 GFs y a bees dick, 2 because of poor kicking and 1 from a unkind bounce. First thing he would do is get rid of the squibs, hope we half a squad left.

For the talent that we have on the pitch we should be much better than what we are now.
Teague experiment has failed. It’s time to move on.

Really wish we all didn’t buy into the Teague train hype. I would have loved Justin Longmuir if we went an untried coach at that time

The fact remains, we don't have a team close enough/capable of winning a flag, and I defy anyone to honestly say otherwise.

As each week passes by, the idea of letting Cripps go and cashing in on Band 1 Compo.

Two top ten picks in a heavily stacked draft would be a great start in another (unfortunate but neccesary) mini-rebuild.

This team at best is a 7th - 10th based team on the ladder, we have too many conditional players and types that only run one way (not naming names)

By all means blame Teague if it makes it you feel better, that is just ignoring the massive cracks in our list.

Teague cannot be blamed (for instance) for LOB turning out to be a top ten draft pick bust (for example, I am sorry but that is the truth)

I defintley think Dow and SPS will be traded at the end of the season as well..

We need to stockpile as many picks in this year's draft and back Teague and Nick Austin to salvage and reconstruct talented but fundamentally flawed list SOS built.

If it means say goodbye to fan favourits like Cripps so

We have to be pragmatic and ruthless abour list management, more than emotionally overreacting to the coaching.

As far as I am concerned, every player on the list, bar Walsh, Weitering and Harry is tradeable for the right price.

FWIW on RSN this morning - Bartels was saying Carlton are where Melbourne were 2 years ago.

Playing for themselves and not prepared to sacrifice role/plays for team success.

If the penny ever drops they’ll be good - until then “they make everything look hard - scoring looks hard and defending is difficult“

Can someone get Teague to explain this…
View attachment 1149127

The funny thing is that it is so obvious each week who’s going to kick goals against us and we seem to have f’all planning in place to defend against it.

This is not intended to be a Plow bashing…I’m putting this on the coaching and (lack of) defensive structure.
We have had this problem for 3-4 seasons .. he was just lucky Elliot got hurt early round two or he would of kicked 8

His idea of doing something different is doing the same thing on a new seat. Something about shuffling deck chairs...
Made me laugh when he said noticed from sitting on the boundary our skill execution and decision making is no good ... I've been seeing that on TV I think he need go optometrist or buy some binoculars when he in box .. we the worse ranked side for disposals eff ...
If Adelaide and nth give us a touch up all hell will break loose --

Didn't know how to feel during the Dream Time at the O and camera panning to Woosha watching the game, seemed more interested in making an appearance there than showing his face in our coaches box.
What does that have to do with anything? He's a consultant, not a coach.

Re Worsfold/coaching box, I have no ******* idea. From where I sit it's a friggen zoo in there. Anything could be happening.

Re. Fog and Ed, I love both those players and recognize the effort, it should be rewarded. But if they aren't getting the job done (they're not) and are making errors that effect the rest of the team (they are) then they need to go into the 2s2asnd fix the deficiencies if only for a week, and the Dows and Samo's and LOBs of the world should each get their turn. That is fair, reasonable and sensible.

This just is not happening and is unacceptable.

Half the season and we finally drop Cas. Murphy shouldn't be playing. We demand more from our first year players than our most experienced and credentialed clubman. Ed and Cotters are making simple errors constantly. We have been to the well the last 5 years with insane numbers of first round picks we selected because THESE BOYS CAN REALLY PLAY but we don't play them because (insert excuse here).

Thank fu** for the Prendercast boys this week 'coz there's nothing there that any of us can disagree with. Sean should be the ******* mentor/advisor to Lloyd 'coz he's doing sweet fu** all on his own. Needs a decent push from someone with brains to get this ******* sh*t show back on the ******* rails.

Lost it there a second but at least I feel vindicated in what I've been thinking/posting the last few weeks.
SeanPB? I remember him on TC, so I find what you're saying hard to believe. I'll have to listen to a podcast episode, but I doubt I'll hear anything remotely incisive.

If they're not recording the coaches box, they're not allowing Worsfold to do much of anything in terms of monitoring for progress and how receptive they are to his feedback.

There's no way the board or the football department would agree to that and consider themselves competent, and I severely doubt that is the case. There's a lack of football-focused thinking on the board, but they're not intellectually incompetent.

I was starting to think the same thing last year.

Look at it from a players perspective.

We stack our list with 1st round kids - now players who go in the 1st round of the draft essentially spend their entire childhood being told how good they are and how they'll be an AFL superstar. They get in the system and get told they're going to be a role player? **** that - I'm here to win Brownlows like everyone said I would, I'm not being a role player.

Throw in that we target Saad and Williams who specifically came to us because they didn't want to play 'roles' at their clubs anymore - they wanted to be superstars.

We need some blokes with chips on their shoulder who just want to win.

Think the list is good but could do with a few tweaks and we also lack a winning culture and a better team oriented ethos. This is about getting individuals to gell.

And I’m not for or against removing Teague.

But am interested as to why he is a potential premiership coach? He got some early wins by playing older players, but we haven’t seemed to move in the last 18 months. He may adapt, but I haven’t seen that yet.

If we want a coach that will change our mediocre culture and get immediate results, this is our man

The whole pampered playing group and club personnel need a massive rocket up the clacker.

No he is NOT our man!

Well no one said that about Thompson or Dimma in their first few years as coach.

Blokes like Beveridge and Hardwick are exceptions to the norm.

Hard to think another coach could get much more out of SPS, Dow, LOB etc.

This list as far as I am concerned does not enough have grit or talent to win a flag.

I am in favour of a mass clean out of player and assistant coaches, and in bring players that will play and coach under the Teague way.

Our current list trajectory simply does show any tangible signs of winning a flag, no matter who is coach, so I am in favour of blowing it up (to a certain degree)

The Teague way? The it's all about attack way?

Would you trade Cripps for:
Dow and LOB? (2017)
SPS and Setterfield? (2016)

Alarm bells are ringing loud a clear for me after reading the below quotes from Teague’s press conference yesterday.
“Being able to execute the fundamentals” and “I’m frustrated they we’re not playing the brand of footy we want to play”
Well, it’s clear to me he and his coaching staff have a communicating/teaching problem with regards the fundamentals and brand...after 12 months (I’ve cut them a little slack) neither has got traction...
Q...will the players buying in...how much longer do the supporters give him????
Apart from a select few “commitment” to fundamentals/his brand hasn’t been bought by the playing group...the extra effort picking up/running with opposition, hard at the ball etc etc is non-existent.

You can't be too harsh on Teague, I mean ... he's delivered consistency to us fans!

No more frustrating days like what we (and now Saints fans) had to deal with under Ratten - wondering which team would show up on any given match day.

We now know exactly which team will show up - the one that gets beaten by 4 goals!

:drunk:

“Lloyd conducted a series of mini-reviews into the club’s football department throughout the 2019 season, but now the club’s board believes an external set of eyes is needed.”

Get this joker out of our club. Hopefully the review covers his position as well.
He doesn’t sound for the review because he’s going to be found out

You're so emphatic but you haven't listed a reason why he's not. He certainly has the experience and acumen. Do you base your opinion on perceived character flaws or are you just being glib as the perennial "moderator"? Why must our "man" be a man - why not the ex-Netball coach who's equally delusional.
