Wouldn't mind Essendon putting some more players on the LTI so that they can try for 4-5 picks.

Go for:

A ruckman.
Greg Clark.
Hudson Garoni.
Tahj Abberley.

If 2019 MSD is anything to go by then clubs will be very conservative, expect about a dozen picks and maybe only around half that or less from the NAB League, but i enjoy putting names out there of impressive young blokes just in case they get an opportunity.

If they have all of those MSD picks, use all of them.

Otherwise it's a waste of time.

Also, with the list being released, as well as alphabetised, we should see their:

DOB.
Height.
Weight.
State.
Previous clubs.
Position.

Also, it should be a table and a sortable one at that.

Sorry to say but the MSD is a waste of time except for where teams don't have an acceptable list management strategy.
Ehhh, you may also see a case of talent slipping through the cracks in the draft year and only coming good as a 19 year old. There's also plenty of cases of breakout years for older guys (think Kelly, the Ryan's, etc) where the MSD helps.

None of them went in the midseason draft and it is only speculation that those same clubs would have done the same in a MSD; they all pushed their cases over multiple WAFL seasons and were taken in the normal end of year draft and importantly did an AFL pre-season before playing.

Mid season is both a really sub-optimal time to assess where a potential mature age prospect is at within their state league but it is also a terrible time to try and bring a player into a club. Because of the way the dynamics are of the MSD is as a club you get stuck in this position of trying to see for half a season if they "have it" (amongst a bunch that were already passed over) whilst those players are competing for selection against other players who have (on average) had the advantage of having done some kind of AFL pre-season; it is a relatively high cost of admission for low returns.

Worked for Marlion Pickett

Ideally, this draft would be a few weeks later than it is. Surely it is more seen as a top-up needs type of draft and more for filling with players who are more likely to be able to contribute immediately rather than untried rookies? End of the day though, it depends on the list and some clubs might see it as a chance to get a six month head start with a rookie.

Really dont see the purpose of this draft considering the list cuts that are still in place.
We are half way in the season and could have just had the normal draft.
Allows the bottom 6 or so teams to pick a genuine talent, mostly long term players. Potentially helps them rebuild faster in the medium term.

There might be a couple of mature age players that could add depth for a couple of teams.

Ollie Davis played 4 games before heading over to Adelaide, 2 Tasmanian State League games where he was his team's best player in both and 2 Nab League games where he was judged the Devils best and 2nd best to Sam Banks in the other. Maybe selling his season a bit short?

Looks like Davis had a big game on the weekend. 26 disposals, 9 tackles and 7 clearances.

Talent Tiers First Attempt
In previous years i have attempted to put out tiers of where i think the young talent is at when compairing them to one another and here is my first attempt this year

Elite: Horne, Daicos

Top Tier: Roberts, Rachele, Sinn, Fahey, Johnson, Chesser, Erasmus, Darcy, Van Rooyen, Williams, Sonsie, Banks, Long, Callaghan, T.Conway

3rd Tier: C.Hamilton, Browne, Ferres, Gibcus, Goater, Draper, MacDonald, Rayson, Hobbs, Rankin

This 27 are for me the best talent in the pool i have seen so far, but im sure things will change once we see the championships later in the year.

Where do you have Ned Long in your ratings and where do you see him getting drafted pick range
Ive had him high for a long time, no pun intended, i have him mid first, could go mid to late first imo, since i put him in my first round lists he has gone from strength to strength, gets better each week.

Do you have any link to Long vision , I have tried to find some but doesnt seem to be anything around

Anyone been watching any SA school footy lately? Anyone catching an eye besides the likes of Roberts and Ferres?

From the 2019 MSD 4/13 have made it, Marlion Pickett, Will Snelling, Ryan Gardner and John Noble.

There were very few 19 year old options that year, although i am surprised Kyle Dunkley didnt make it as he looked good enough.

This year there seems to be at least 3 and up to half a dozen from the NAB League who have developed or come from no where because of the lack of footy in 2020 where they would have normally been scouted from.

I first thought we might have a similar MSD to 2019, but with some more names popping up and some hype i think it could be closer to 20 picks this time around.

If i had to round out a top 30 i would add Bazzo, Wilmot and Beecken.

They would be in order of how i have named them left to right

A lot of bottom aged talent running around more so than class of 21.

Sacred Heart in particular with Jaiden Magor and Kobe Ryan. They also have Jacob Lochowiak who I think is a Crows NGA this year.

Other bottom agers- Max Michaelanny for Rostrevor making a fair splash shutting Ferres out of a game recently.

Max Blacker, Tyson Walls having good seasons as is Brad Jefferies. Brad is a 21 class, not without a chance after playing well for Sturt also.

Phoenix Foster also one to watch next year.

Looks like SA will be well represented again next year.

FYI - Roberts picked up leg injury of some description last week end too. Not playing anywhere this week.

Sorry no idea how serious.
