Have the Dogs guaranteed they'll take Darcy?

I don't think he's a pick 1 talent. Daicos, sure.

But I reckon we take JHF over Darcy in an open draft so why bid on him?

Adelaide bid on Ugle-Hagen because he was number 1 talent.
He doesn’t have to be pick 1 talent. He just has to be better than the talent available at pick 15.

Best 19 year olds
Best 19 year olds imo

there were a few i liked that missed being drafted last year and most got selected in the SSP and the MSD, these are the ones that have missed out so far, but i think have draft potential

Luke Cleary - medium sized half back for Sandringham Dragons, has been a good intercept and rebounder and uses the ball quite well.

Joel Trudgeon - tall midfielder who can push forward and take some good contested marks for Northern Knights, one i spotted early in the season, i really liked how he plays as that strong bull in the midfield and pushes forward to be a danger in front of goals.

Chance Doultree - inside/outside mid for Gippsland Power, similar to Hugh Jackson in that he has good speed, can find the ball and can be a goal kicking threat, i think he is a talent from what i saw of him early in the season, seems consistent, not sure where he has been the 2nd half of the season?

Noah Gribble - inside midfielder for Geelong, he was one i wasnt sure of in 2019, then he got a knee injury and then the cancellation of 2020, but his 2021 has been very impressive, he is just a workhorse in the centre and seems to have a high motivation to make it to the AFL.

yea i remember looking up Footscray VFL teams ect, other than the 2 games has he played Amateurs or just covid lockdowns? well i liked the handful of games i saw him play at NAB League, what a pain these last 2 seasons have been.
I think the country NAB League games were 18 and under only so he was just too old to play in the Rebels v Power one

I see KM has Jack Avery skyrocketed up his power rankings. Also, much talk here in WA re Josh Cripps. What is your view on both kids as far as realistic draft chances. Do you think the Cripps is more a good story than a kid being rewarded for his form? Remembering he’s a 19 year old playing colts- not sure if this is an accurate gauge to go from.

Jack Avery was linked to Hawthorn last year, i have not been his biggest fan, but he definitely wins a lot of poss off of half back.

Josh Cripps i dont know as much about, he was invited to the AFL combine recently thats all i know about him.

Could you give me a run down on Brady Hough?

Could you give me a run down on Brady Hough?

medium sized forward/mid who had a good game in the WA v SA champs game as a medium forw who kicked 2 and had a about 5 shots at goal, also played a good link between mid and forward for WA, had a decent WAFL debut last week as well, thought id mention him in my recent top 50.

Ben Hobbs in the games i saw him play has a similar play style to Nick Daicos and it will be interesting to see when they get into the AFL system which one will be the better player if they both get to play in their natural positions as inside midfielders.
Davo who would you like to see Hawks take, Who is your personal favorite ? Would you encourage Hawks to see what it would take to trade up to get our hands our GWS pick 2.. If we move Mitchell for Tigers pick 16, pick 16 and 5 for Pick 2... I'd like Callaghan as fit for Hawks, and maybe he's one player GWS have an abundance of. I'd take Mac Andrew if we keep pick 5 personally (highest ceiling available).

i dont know about trades, but Callaghan, Erasmus or Goater would be great for us imo.

Callaghan - has great agility and speed, plays outside mid and inside mid to good levels, high impact per possession player as well, tall outside mid who can play as an accelerator from the contest.

Erasmus - is a quality forward with good marking, goal kicking and ability to find space in the forward line with clever disposal(usually looks classy with it), as a midfielder he can accumulate and spread the ball as well as push forward and kick goals.

Goater - has top end acceleration from the contest, is a tall mid and can impact a game with more of an outside game but also can contest in the round the ground clearances

Erasmus is the best Forw/mid next to Horne-Francis imo, Callaghan and Goater gives our midfield something we have not had in awhile, some diversity of skills and talent in our midfield

No love for Josh Ward? I reckon him or Erasmus would be ideal for us. Ward's work rate, goal sense, and ability to hit lead-up options, as well as being able to sneak a goal or two himself, make him pop out as the best choice for us if he's available. Erasmus looks like a gun and I wouldn't mind him at all, as you said. Goater I believe we can pick up later in the first round with a trade or two, but I think at 5 I'd rather Ward. Callaghan won't be available to us.

oh yea im coming around to Ward, he is a Hawks supporter and they usually do well in the AFL system, Ward is similar to Callaghan and Goater in that he is more outside run than inside grunt but a bit shorter, so he is also an option, Scrimshaw and Moore show how much Hawks supporting kids go well with us, i think he might be an option for us at 7 too, its good when you recruit fans of the club because they have a little more passion for success.

I think what he has over Callaghan and Goater is his defensive work rate. The guy tackles and tracks back so well and despite being rather light framed he goes hard at the contest. He's not as tall as the other two, nor is he as evasive as Callaghan, but I like him for seven more than other options like Rachele, Sinn and Sonsie that I've seen folks on the Haws board vying for.

I like Ward but his height makes me lean towards Erasmus and his overhead marking is another plus!

What’s wards speed like? At his size and frame needs some speed if he’s outside leaning. Just seems like a guy who’s a risk that will only be a solid afl player but no star.

Ward has got some good speed which makes him an outside mid, he might not be as quick as Callaghan, Sinn or Goater for example(i really like their acceleration off the mark), but he is quite quick on the field.

Or Covid rules possibly if not domiciled in Gippy?
Just saw this. Yeah Doultree is based in the metropolitan (ie inside the Officer-Longwarry boundary) which is why he didn’t play the country games late.
