Then why are Essendon trying to get the interviews thrown out?

I think to waste time. Why even have legal proceeding at the show cause notice stage when there hasn't been ultimately a decision made by ASADA? When did this come to head? June? It is now mid August, if they appeal whatever decision made here to the full court then we will be looking at 2015... If they win and force ASADA to start again and then go through the song and dance of an actual ASADA verdict and challenge every stage of that then we might be looking at 2017 by the time anyone is actually penalised (assuming ultimate guilt). How many of the 34 players will still be playing/be at Essendon by 2017? A handful at best.

I'm not sure Essendon has the money to take it that far into the future.

Just saw THAT hug attempt by Hird on Little after he faced the media this afternoon. Looked just as pathetic and staged as everything that's come out of Hird's mouth. Little didn't want a bar of it and never game Hird any eye contact. Hatred. Hird is history.
Whiff of the Latham/Howard hand shake?

This is an interesting post. Should ASADA have to regather information then players and support staff would have an opportunity to turn up but not answer any questions. One can imagine there would be a significant proportion of the supporter base who would support this approach.

This is likely to make ASADA's job a lot harder and drag the issue on for a lot longer.

Meanwhile I couldn't see Presidents of the other clubs being pleased if the club went into complete "no co-oepration" mode.

Regards

S. Pete

Wouldn't they just send in the AFL with its powers to compel and just get the same testimony they already have??

It is a LEGAL CASE. Players don't have to say any more than they are legally required to do. We have been stuffed around enough, the players have more than cooperated. It is up to ASADA to prove it, if they can't...the courts will chuck it out.

Never heard of "LEGAL CASE" being a standard of evidence.

Seriously mate, give it up.

Woah woah woah, LEGAL you say. That changes everything.

If they lose they have right of appeal in an UPPER CASE.

Paul Little: "We believe we are entitled to a legal investigation"

Maybe you are, Mr Little, and we should be entitled to an investigation, legal or otherwise, into Essendon's activities. Whether it happens now, or in 2 years time, it WILL happen. We should also be entitled to a sport where clubs don't cheat the system to gain unfair advantages, but while belligerent pricks like you are involved in the game, that will never happen.
