I post on this site occasionally, but read all the time. I would hate to be in the trenches with those guys that just keep bagging the club like they are experts. One day there back slapping then the next there sticking knives in their back. One day Hines is the best then he has got no idea and were just about to get ripped off. Either you back them or you dont, and if you dont try to vote them out instead of just whinging.

I think we have recruited very well over the last 2 years. We have brought in good young talent and some free agents and other players from other clubs. Yes those guys have not been a great success, but not at the expense of building a list that can eventually can be competitive against the best. Jesse White was the only we paid a price at an expense of young recruit and i can see why we took a risk on him, but i dont rate him.

Last year we brought in Shazza, Freeman, Marsh, Langdon, Good drafting. White a risk like i said, Armstrong is a dud but at no cost really (should be delisted)

Now get behind your club instead of bagging them. Trust that they are trying their best, you dont know what goes on behind the scenes and i am sure they are more informed than anyone on this site. Not going to renew your membership is just crap, go join the tigers and bring your microwave ovens with you

Well said. It's so frustrating to watch how quickly some of our "supporters" turn so quickly and often on the basis of nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumour. I guess we have to accept that some people are so invested at times that they fail to see the wood while the trees smack them in the head. Don't be a stranger!

Gardiner is a 19 year old that was drafted last year and got a rising star nomination. He plays third tall in defence.

To be honest right now I can't tell whether this proposed deal and the other for Varcoe is being done for the best interests of the club or more for the best interests of a coach and administration who'll be under enormous pressure in 2015 to improve.

Go backwards again next season careers are on the line and heads will likely roll.

Pretty evident that most moves that have occurred post 2011 have been with a long term view.

Obviously those plans involved Beams, so him wanting out is a big spanner in the works and now they need to re-evaluate and see what they can get to replace him. Plenty of that is timing, if Beams had wanted out last year when the Lions had heaps of kids wanting back home to Victoria perhaps a Pick 7 and Docherty/Longer type deal may have eventuated.....this year if players don't want to leave then not much we can do.

Varcoe, I really don't get the hate...pretty fair replacement for H really, a guy who can play HB, Wing or HF and somebody who played 23 for the Cats this year.

You cant keep tipping out senior players and replacing them with draft picks....even a guy like Q-Stick, many would see bringing him in as a bust, yet his early 2013 on-field form was strong and he won the best clubman award in 2014 despite dealing with his own injury and pending retirement.

It has probably been said previously, and I am struggling to keep up with this thread, but surely the GWS/Dogs situation changes everything? Not to say better for us or worse, but more the landscape has been changed? It opens up possibilities, closes doors on others, etc

I have had a shithouse fortnight for a variety of reasons, and just find the notion that the pies would back down on their inspiring ballsy statement on Friday just a little too hard to accept.

I could be wrong, I could be way wrong, but the quiet from the pies is important. This so called mega deal doesn’t seem so mega now. In fact, I think todays bombshells have altered the landscape completely.

I just pray to Daicos that it is a positive for the pies.

Geez it's hard to get excited with the proposed trade. We are getting no guarenteed quality from what I can see. Varcoe, put it this way I just about would have preffered to keep H. Greenwood is just a average/good player. Crisp, I honestly did not even know who he was prior to this trade period and draft picks which could be anything. Meanwhile we are losing our second best player. If that trade goes through and we have nothing else in the pipeline i'm not going to be happy.

I understood what the club was trying to do with all players in past offseason, replacing them with young talent. Now though we have lost more players either through retirement or wanting to leave the club like Beams, we can't afford to replace him with kids and we can't afford to replace him with run of the mill players ala greenwood and mediocre players in Varcoe. I loved the clubs initial stance of getting a direct replacement for Beams, why we have potentially moved away from this idea is beyond me if these reports are true.

im surprized at this aswell, i dont believe we have performed well this trade period, which is a first, gc suns dont seem real keen to do a trade for beams, and neither do gws.
