No sanfl demanding profits now my friend. Sando is an agitator (aka demands success) so we can roll a couple of FY losses together to terminate his treacherous contract and appoint bicks. The top will remain, the bottom will be purged. We're potentially screwed for 2 decades if the current board do not resign and leave trigg hanging out on a limb.

Not 2 decades but I honestly can't see us being a genuine competitor for 5 years minimum. "Honest" (stupid) mid table finishes, player exodus and the Trigg/Reid effect have come home to roost. We need 4-5 years of top 8 draft picks to get us back in the game, and that's provided we draft wisely, which with us, isn't a certainty.

Any professional sportsman who is a member of a team that puts these issues ahead of pride in his own performance and that of his team mates doesn't deserve his pay cheque.
What if many of these people feel the same?
What you've said is more along the lines of they're deliberately putting these issues ahead of all else..
An unhappy environment makes these problems happen.. The mental edge has to be spot on, look at us at the moment on field, we are a shell..
In a perfect world the players live in a bubble and just play football..

Roo said today, you need most things in the club to be be working well, tight, unified for on field to work..
Just then Voss on Open Mike said something similar, the whole club must be aligned, any chink in the armor will not allow you to go places.. From the board right down to the players..

We're 5 years away after the present decision makers are gone. If that's 10 years away, then it's 15 years. There appears to be nothing stopping this group hanging around for as long as they like.

I truly think the Duck is onto something. I think the playing group are disenchanted with the club as a whole. I am not going to jump on Sando as I don't think he is the problem, we all know its Trigg and his lazy corrupt and arrogant management team, Sando is more of the middle man. I have no doubt Sando is pushing shit up hill with our squad at present and deserves every opportunity to build an untainted squad that doesn't have any list cloggers on it due to sanctions. My gut feeling on this issue is its going to get a lot worse before it gets better. The arrogance of our management and board suggests the writing on the wall isn't enough, they need a huge pile of crap to hit the fan first by the way of becoming the national joke (in other words 2014s version of 2012 Port Adelaide).

This is awful but this week i sense momentum is building…maybe a bad loss to Saints and then GWS will be worth it if it causes the banishment of the boys club by 2015.

I feel if this festers beyond this season it will set us back dramatically, whereas we can move forward if we stop the rot asap.

That's a superficial way of thinking about it. To put it bluntly, do you work as hard for a shit boss and work place as you would for a fantastic boss in an even better happy workplace? Just because they have professional sportsman next to their name doesn't mean they are better than the rest of us dealing with such unpleasantness.

This is more what it is..
There has been a lot of stress around the place over the last couple of years, a lot of stress on Sando..
Who knows how this has affected the relationships, the behaviours of people and so on..
Stress on people and relationships is not good..
When you think about it, they've been smashed in many ways..

The problem is the boys club will think they are the ones to fix it and they fail to realise they are the problem.

Nope - With the move the Adelaide Oval and the club allegedly being $4 million better off.

they will have some difficult questions to answer if we don't turn a profit.

This is the same club that had sponsors re-signing in droves after Tippett-gate. Result a 20% down-turn. This is the same club that doesn't publish footy dept spend. Which I understand 17 other clubs do. Surely this isn't the same club that by virtue of its new constitution will elect the board, completely autonomously, from within itself.

Who is going yo be Adkins the difficult questions. It won't need to happen unless the club runs out of money or available debt and has to beg the afl for funds. That appears to be the only trigger for an external form of a board review. It'll be bloody happy times rolling along that road.

If it's that long between drinks, then we will waste the careers of Danger, Sloane and Walker - all who could end up laying claim to being in the top 10 all time players at the club.

Doesn't sound too dissimilar to what has been said about collingwood over the last year or so. The key for the pies is that they have strong leaders in Buckley and McGuire. No need to cover trigg again but if Sando did go off after the Geelong game then I think it that's a great sign. People on here have been banging on that he's maybe not tough enough and that we accept mediocrity so if he layed down the law after we rolled over when the game was there for the taking good on him. If the players accept those kind of performances then they can get out instead of cracking the sads.

Noble said after re-signing smith that he was expecting more announcements soon. While unlikely to be stars, if we don't hear anything on this by say round 10 then maybe there's something to the unhappy playing group talks.

There have been too many Chinese whispers about Sando not being as loved behind the scenes, for there not to be some truth to it.

I wouldn't be shattered if we lost the next couple. See what a few people are made of.

We won't beat the Saints.

Easter v GWS is the last stand

That's the real scary part.

We have no say in it.

So what you are saying is I don't like been middle of the road team so I would rather 3-4yrs of absolute crap on field peformances and hope we draft and develop the best young players while our current best players will leave because the club is so poor on field.

Why don't we ask melbourne for their 2008/9handbook on becoming a contender because that is what you suggesting we do which was so successfully

So you don't see us been a geninue contender for 5 years but you solution is to occupy the bottom 6 for 2 to 3yrs and then you will see our best players leave.

What are you talking about our best players leave regardless of where we finish. Culture.

I must admit this comment from Sanderson had me pretty concerned:

You learn how to manage staff, different personalities and a variety of players who come from Gen X, Y and Z - and Z is that next group of young players who have communicated with mobile phones, social media and emails and find it very difficult to get into face-to-face conversations.

Does anyone think Ken Hinkley would find it difficult to engage with younger players face to face?

I know most players are on board twitter but deep down I bet they'd want a coach who cuts through the social media bullshit and tries to be as direct as possible.

Our admin set us back in a very considerable way. We are 1 club, we are a group of individuals working towards a common goal. To achieve that goal we will need to cast off incompetence and mediocrity along the journey. We did it with Bernie Vince and were prepared to do it with other non-performers at footy level. All the while, whilst undertaking this monumental challenge, we allow the admin to completely **** up what they do. There is no dis-connect, the admin are a part of the club. It's actually worse, they set the benchmarks and they, themselves are rank failures. Does anyone really think that the players 'just play footy, duh'.

We are screwed and trigg was the primary reason. But that changed when the board chose to keep him on and accept greater penalties to save their own incompetent skins.
Yep :thumbsu:

What the board/admin forgot to consider is that some of our players have a brain. And some of them also have other options. It's a deadly combo for a struggling club.

The good news is that we'll keep all the dummies who don't have anywhere else to go.

im not sure if their are divisions or not, but everyone knows when results go pear shaped in sporting teams little cracks always start to appear.
Yep. Simple and spot on.

There is no losing team in world sport where it's happy families.

And if it is they're probably because they're making some cash for their 'efforts'
