Don't tell me this is going to degenerate into "but they started it" territory?

Because I know for a fact that they started it....:D

:thumbsu: Roll on footy season.

Handbags at dawn?;)

I wish people would move on from saying "move on".
I wish people would get over telling others to "get over it"
We've got fans divided over whether or not we're divided or not.
And we've got people arguing over whether it's worth arguing over.
Fck me dead.
How about we all just agree to disagree.

edit: as a piece offering to prove my worth, I have reverted to my old avatar. The sig maintains the rage, though...

Respect Nodgey.

Although I hope saying that no one wanted you to remove your old avatar isn't salting the wound.

There'll still be plenty of old memorabilia proudly displayed on Freo fan walls, whether for or against the new designs.

..guess it's not spurious to suggest Dockerland organised the failed march though:)

I'm not sure that it failed. What was the point of the march? To gain publicity and express their disappointment at the changes. They got on TV and in the papers. The organisers of the march were aware that it was extremely unlikley to lead to any backdown.

And Dockerland didnt organise the march. A poster on Dockerland did. There is a difference.

I will repeat what I have said before : I could be bothered filling in the survey! If you couldn't be bothered = BAD LUCK; If you did and you feel disgruntled = Democracy! ( Bad Luck ) !!!

What stupid gibberish. Even the most ardent advocate for these changes hasn't tried to suggest that the process was in any way democratic.

One thing which I think has been overlooked is the new jumpers have opened up the perfect opportunity to use the greatest theme song in the land ... that of the mighty Bulldogs.

That line about the mighty red V was one thing which was going to be hard to use. Not anymore. Bring it on.

And then Mr Smith can really go and get stuffed:

We are the mighty Dockers
Always fighting on
With victory and flag our goal
With guts and determination
We put the rest to shame
Because our fighting spirit wins the game.

We're the Dockers (yes we are)
And we're the greatest (yes we are)
The mighty white 'v' which stands for victory
The rough tough Dockers (yes we are)
Fre---mantle (yes we are)
The Purple Army* for ever more.

Down by the port of Fremantle
We hit them really hard
With true grit and courage we win
So come on Freo let's show them
How to play the game to win
Fre---mantle for ever more

further to general thread topic;

Guernsey hoo-haa may see Dockers song get the heave-ho

Fran Rimrod

November 25, 2010 - 2:43PM

The decision on whether the "heave-ho" will go won't be made until the start of 2012 AFL season, but the Fremantle Dockers have promised to seek member feedback on the future of the club song.
Dockers spokesman Luke Morfesse said the options being considered were to keep the existing song, adopt a reworked version of the existing song or bring in a brand new song.
He said the March 2011 edition of the Dockers member magazine would contain further details of the song review process.

You could only call it a success if the issue was resolved the way they want it. It wasn't. So one could hardly call it a success... That's all I'm saying.

And Dockerland didnt organise the march. A poster on Dockerland did. There is a difference.
It was organised on DL with support of a lot their posters. As I mentioned in an early post there is even a thread lambasting the apathy of many to turn up. Guess we'll have alternating views of the subject, not that it's important really. I have no passion to villainise any fellow supporters or get into a heated war over the meeting. We are all on the same side essentially. I just like to wind it up a little.

You're alright Nodgey:thumbsu:. DSOTM is a fantasic album as well. ;)

The "march" was a success imo even though it looks like not many took part

Nothing was ever going to get changed but the media heard about it an were hoping to get a big story out of it but thankfully they behaved an voiced their criticisms respectfully.

Now i am 100% sure the club know they did the wrong thing an pissed people off.
They will be more careful an thoughtful next time.
An that has been my concern the whole time.

Yeah great idea Alfonz. Let's select a WAFL club song, that'll unify everyone, particularly the large East Fremantle contingent of our support.

When you add the little fact that we have three V's (actually chevrons) not one, and they aren't always white (like when we wear the clash) the song works beautifully. Good luck with that.

Dr Jon has made the point the V's aren't always white and we have three of them - pretty easy fix. Just change the line to:

The three mighty V's stand for victory.

I'd be happy with that song - most will acknowledge it's a great song, whether a South fan or an East Freo fan like my old man.

But I'd also be happy with a revamped version of our current song. Just cut the cheesy rap stuff and possibly re-work the start so it begins with the chorus or something more upbeat.

And if we keep the song as is, so be it - the chorus is good and that's all the boys sing.

Not a bad look either.

I've bought up on the traditional memorabilia, some to be sent to relatives. I checked out the new stuff, sorry reminds of a RL jersey from Auckland bro! Bought some stuff for me and my lady ( she thinks I'm nuts ), bought heaps from AFL & other stores.
(grudgingly admits that Steve H might be right with merchandising sales)
I believe that this is a phase that Freo will go through and will emerge the stronger for it. We now can always lay claim to the additional colours of red and green and the anchor remains (sort of)
Let rationale heads prevail. Lest irreparable harm is done. Freo members ARE passionate! It's what we're good at. That obviously means unwavering support for our team, our club (AS WE SEE IT) And there is the rub!! We all see it differently. Even the minority is significant. Depending on your point of view.
Onward to 2011, on field success and a united club.
No matter what colours you wear, old or new, as long as they're Freo, you'll do!!

Something which the entire universe should agree upon. :)

Sorry, I hate it. I had to do several english assignments on it back in high school years ago and it still haunts me.

Wondering why our teacher was leading us to the music room, then having to sit in silence for an hour while he blasted the music at us for an hour - without a word from him about what or why - was fine. However, then having to listen to it over and over and over and over, disecting every single freaking lyric and note was too much.

Thanks to that semester and all of the ridiculous DSOTM topics we had to go over I also have a hatred for the original Wizard of Oz. Look up 'Dark Side of the Rainbow' if you're curious why.

Wow, way to take something too seriously.

Anyway, I would have loved for us to be called the Sharks, so I don't agree with your point on alienating East Freo supporters.

I'm keen on a counter protest just for the hell of it.

Signs like "WE SUPPORT THE STEVES" and "CHEVRONS FOREVER, ANCHORS NEVER" and check the reaction

I prefer the following sign myself

LOVE FREO, HATE STEVES

Then again, we all have the right to express a view

After the meeting was over I was talking to Steve Harris. I asked him when we could expect the new merchandise to be in the 2 Freo shops. He said, "Possibly the week before Christmas. If not, the week after Christmas." "Surely it would be a major marketing blunder if you don't get ANY pre-Christmas sales of the new stuff, considering that the re-branding was done months before Christmas?" I said. He just gave me a bit of a blank look and didn't answer the question.

You would think that a bloke who's the head of Perth's biggest advertising agency would be a bit more on the ball as far as basic marketing strategy is concerned. Particularly then it would be a fair assumption that the shop sales must be pretty stagnant at the moment.

Surely this can't be true? I don't like the changes but since it has happen anyway then this would be inexcusable!!!! Even one week before isn't acceptable for any professional organisation that makes revenue from merchandising.

Can anyone confirm that there were only 1700 voters in the members rep election. That is what I heard (Please tell me it was 17,000). If that is the case then the problem lies a lot deeper than a DL v BF slagfest. I feel like I've heard bitching from at least 1700 people who were pissed off about a lack of consultation regarding the changes.
Wonder how many took the opportunity to have a say in the running of the club the very next time it arose.
