Bennell has looked the goods as a quick defender so far in the waffle, I'm keen to see how he would transfer it into the AFL. I hope he gets an opportunity to show this before the end of the season.

Bennell has looked the goods only in parts. He's inconsistent, and that's at WAFL/waffle/rofl level. I agree with you that he should be given games in this junk time part of WC's season to see if he sinks or swims.

Who in there right mind would play Yarran in defense?

If Yarran came to WC, I would, for WC don't need him as a forward, as the forward line is already stacked with offensive firepower. Yarran doesn't have the tank for anything but being a burst player as a midfield rotation, so he has to be stationed elsewhere in the meantime. Given WC's deficiency in leg speed and good disposal by many of their small/medium defenders, Yarran brings these traits that are sorely lacking amongst his peers.

Yarran has no real midfield potential, he certainly can't play on ball at the moment and that's before they cap rotations.

You don't need to put a follower on him just someone who can run and has a single ounce of physicality to their game and he falls to bits, they can shut him down and run off him. He'll get a dozen touches and you'll be losing that contest by a fair amount. He has a yard of pace and a nice kick, but he's not something worth pursuing all that hard.

He plays HHF or i wouldn't play him and at this stage i would pay that much for his ability as forward.

Unless he comes cheap i've got no interest in Yarran, given Malthouse has a well earned reputation of being a hard ass a the trade table he would expect top dollar for him as well.

Schofield is so much better than brown and its because of brown that schofield has to play out of position atm ! To be honest his isn't playing to badly in an unfamiliar position . The bullet pass to darling in the toward fifty was a better kick than anything masten dished up today !

Would trade yarran for brown and our third but not our second. Our second is looking like a pick around 24-26 and tbh thats all i think yarran is worth now. Brown for a side without solid KPD's is probably worth around that on his own. Malthouse will obviously think yarran is worth pick 6 but he's very jaded. Yarran is not in his side's 10 best players so imo is not worth a first rounder. An early second rounder for a useful flanker without a future in the midfield sounds about right if you forget where he was drafted. I'd do brown plus our third for yarran but thats about it. Brown isn't as good a player as yarran but key position players who are afl quality are worth a lot more than flankers.

I honestly think our key defenders would be seen in a much better light than they are already if it wasn't for our obviously deficient midfield.

Don't think we need yarran , we have a good fwd line he does not have the tank for midfield and is not accountable as a defender ! Would rather try bennell in defence and try draft garlett with 3 rd rounder

I'm not sure I'd even want to give up a 2nd rounder for him. I just think we need genuine midfielder prospects more then we need Yarren who hardly fills a need and is a pretty flawed player.

I'm not arguing he is not worth a 2nd rounder, I just don't think it's in the clubs best interests. Maybe if they would swap for brown ok (however would love saints 2nd pick should be around 20ish).
