Can someone make a case fo Cockshell? I don't know anything about him.

Same for Deluca really except I know he is tall timber and we punted Cartledge so he might be in the reckoning.

Cockshell has some skill and is a man mountain and would be a great foil until Polak returns. The word out of Port is that he loves a beer but can't handle the grog as well as the rest of their squad so I'm not to sure where he sits in that department.

Fabian has the gayest name in AFL and is a projet ruckman. That's all I know about him. Both are lucky to be given the chance to train along side Andy Collins to see what real professionalism is all about. Whether they get a spot on our list or anyone elses they are both going to be better footballers and human beings after spending time with our group and most of all young Andy Collins at least they'll see what hard work is all about.

Cockshell is about 6'6 and is very well built, should have played infront of J Westhoff for most of this year, Is athletic and can do many special things in a game. But has a bit of Richo about him, Kicking can sometimes waiver and desision making sometimes suffers from the occasional fade, didnt make it at Port as his disipline issues at this stage in his career out weigh his football ability, however leaving friends and family in Adelaide may pull the young lad into line!

Fabian DeLucca... well... moves like a keyboard and has the smarts of the desk the keyboard is sitting on... # of hitouts is amazingly high but % of hitouts to advantage, even at SANFL level is horribally poor!

Cockshell will be a good player at some level one day, DeLucca will be an alright 2nd ruckman for the local amature club down the road! Cockshell by miles!

Niether look that promising to be honest

Cockshell is a down B grade Adam Pattison in that he gets his 10 possessions each game his 5 or 10 hitouts and a goal here and there, but the major differnce is Pattison does this at AFL level while Cockshell does it at SANFL level

Deluca can win the hitouts, but is useless up foward and around the ground so its like having 21 players on the ground

Honestly its flip a coin scenario - both would be desperate to impress in this pre-season.

(I said Deluca btw, only for his hitout winning ablity, and the fact that he actually has a set position)

Richosgun = stats guru.

Your a good man

That would be a good spine....

Spoilt by Sack
up the middle to wood
handball to cox
long kick marked by cockshell

Dick goes in hard, comes out, looks for and gets Wood, in turn finds Daisy Thomas who wants Cox. Goes long. Cockshell's up from behind and hangs over Goldsack. Goal!!

Meanwhile back in the middle Thomas is still looking for Cox.

Why is it we always get the guys with discipline, commitment or attitude issues? Over the past few years we have got some alleged draft "steals" because their attitude was rejected by other clubs.
Nathan Brown, who you can kind of include because it was Terry who got him at the Bulldogs anyway.
Daniel Connors; predicted top 15-20 pick, got him mid 50s, questionable work ethic
Cleve Hughes; predicted top 10-15, as above
Gourdis who knows
Clayton Collard, same deal
What makes us think we can take the risk on these guys, where other clubs can't. The only time we didn't take a risk on a guy was You Know Who back in '04.

Deluca is interesting maybe he was always behind the shadows of lade and brogan and a change will do him good were he is given more game time.Dont forget gilham mate choco didnt give him a go and now he's a premiership player with the hawks.

all i can add here is that if we do get Cockshell then he better deliver the goods, because if he does a Ben Marsh or a Cartledge, the tigerheads will go to town on him with a name like that. ;)

'a cartledge' cartledge did nothing wrong
played good footy in the vfl got promoted when patto was left out
played 2 games
u cant expect him to tear 2 games apart

wheres the neither option?

both spuds of the highest order, ive said it once ill say it again, port have 2 ageing ruckmen and they are in desperate need of ruckmen coming through to replace lade and brogan, Lade has 1 season tops, brogan 2-3...

vickery will need a few years to get afl ready,

so,

if either of these 2 had any ability to make it you really think port would be letting them go and leaving themselves exposed over the next few yrs?

they have little chance of making at afl level, we're better off giving a rookie spot to a young kid

dude...maybe you still live in the dark ages that we are suppose to be emerging from, but Cartledge has been in the AFL system for how long?
You might not expect anything, but i am tipping what you expect gets you JACK SHIT when it comes to an AFL career. ;)

suprised you didnt find a way to incorporate swallow into that :p

If you can teach Cockshell how to kick then he could make it. Ultra athletic, quite quick, good contested mark, looks like an adonis....but his kicking is quite possibly the worst youll ever see. Flip a coin between it going through the big ones or out on the full. From any distance. Ive seen him almost kick out on the full from 15 out in front...but ive also seen him kick goals from 40 out on the boundary. Its just completely unreliable.

Last year he was quite poor, was dropped to the reserves and couldnt buy a kick up forward. This year he played more as a roaming ruck with some time up forward and he played pretty well. Consistency is a bit of a problem, in that he'll have a standout game one week, then pick up 4 touches the next. I had high hopes for him so im pretty annoyed that he treated his opportunity like shit. Allegedly, he rocked up to training 'under the weather' on more than one occasion, among other things. The potential is definately there, its just whether you can close the gap between his good (which can be very good) and his bad.

Deluca is tall and...err......umm.....tall.

Well, we are looking for someone to replace Richo...
I vote Monty Brewster.
