All game should be rotational. Anzac Day and Queens Birthday.
No 2 teams should own these games IMO.

thats coz its freo, granted you guys did well, you are not on the bottom of the ladder and getting consistent hidings are you. Give me the figures when collingwood was last on the ladder, would love them. IT IS A DIFFERENT SITUATION, granted yours would most likely be more but not such the discrepancy. We played them at the MCG as well this year. Attendance 45,000. Melbourne's effort 19,000. And that was beyond your expectations

its all because of our fickle supporter base.
IIRC in 2006 when we were doing well the match pulled around 95k
Average attendances at home games 2008
Melbourne – 33,336
Bulldogs – 33,233
Kangaroos – 29,217

Essendon vs Collingwood.
With the uneven draw we could now play Anzac Day and Queens Bday.

Give me this what day was the WCE match on and what day was the Freo match on?
Our 1999 game against Freo but that was round eight and we had not won a game for the season at the point and we got 27,000. That would probably be a good comparison for your purposes but the fact is that your football club has fickle supporters who do not sufficiently support your team in the good times let alone in the bad.
You can make all the excuses that you like but the Melbourne Football Club will not survive if it continues the way it is going. Collingwood is one club that is helping you by letting you have the home Queen's Birthday match every year, So maybe your efforts should be directed at getting more people attending your games rather than making excuses for the situation you find yourselves in.
Only 27,000? Thats a drop off of about 25000 when your winning, and you call us fickle? Ever think we just dont have the same amount of supporters as you guys? Our 1999 game against Freo but that was round eight and we had not won a game for the season at the point and we got 27,000. The record crowd for Queen's Birthday was in 1981 when 93,000 saw Hawthorn defeat Collingwood at Waverley.
That fixture gets my vote to replace Dees V Pies.
sorry you are Wrong walhawk! The biggest queens birthday crowd was in 1958 between Melbourne and Collingwood when 99,346 peolple turned out and too this day is still the biggest home and away crowd of all time!
Melbourne and Collingwood get's my Vote! For christ sake Melbourne supporters bloody turn up and get the crowd figure to be over 80,000! you guy's should atleast get 27,000 of your member's to turn up considering it is your home game!
Collingwood will be doing it's part in getting 50,000 to the game, so it's all upto melbourne!
Event: AFL Football Round 11

Republic day (better be during the footy season)- Collingwood V Carlton or Collingwood V previous year's premier- 90,000 at the gate a shoe in.![]()
