It's got to be hard for a young bloke with an injury and your still not allowed a drink, much sacrifice to be an AFL player.
He's not young, He's not on less then 100K and he's in that age bracket where you want him to be an example for the younger blokes who are 20-22 of what professionalism is

Plus it's hardly "quiet 2 beers at home" to be caught out he's most likely turned up in a less then ideal state at training or had a few pictures of him drunk turn up

The issue is with blokes like Carlisle/Kommer/ambrose/the merrit boys at 22/23 are at a stage where guys who are in the 27+ bracket cant be half assing it

That's it. Role player, nothing more. People speak of him like he's some sort of valueable "out".
He plays a role in the team. Without him we then don't have that role. It's a 22 man game, not 5/6 like stupid Basketball.

Do you want everyone to be an Ablett and play all the roles...?

Standard procedure. Alcohol hampers the recovery process. He wouldn't be the first player to be disciplined for this and won't be the last.

Ah the old "You have a different opinion to me on a player from my club, so you mustn't have seen him play" line of thinking. What crap.

Again, people see someone with a bit of dash off half back, and get conned into thinking they're a good player. He's average, and replaceable.

Wish Collingwood had that.

He's injured at the moment.

He went out drinking whilst injured last year and got into some shit - might have happened again.

Probably caught on instagram again!
Insta-bloody-gram!! Its taking over the world

Please?

What's happened to him this season? He doesn't seem to be on the injury list. Is he really just not making the grade?

McKenzie? He's coming from a long way back after never having completed a full pre-season, he's a great young player but he's never had the base to separate himself well and truly from the pack through strength/fitness. He had a good preseason IIRC, and started off slowly v Richmond but was one of the GC's better players against Freo I thought.

He will soon be playing very well every game, will be part of a formidable midfield Ablett-Prestia-Swallow-Bennell-McKenzie 1st tier...just needs to get the miles in the legs and do his bit, stats will come.

As for Dempsey, if you aren't doing the 'team' thing at his age and following rehab to the dot, can't see it ending well. Bit different to get dropped from the club as a wake up call when you're a kid and still think you can cruise around ala VFL/TAC, but after years in the system...good player so hopefully all works out for him on the field and with his personal life + family.

Despite what some may think I really rate Dempsey when he's playing injury free. Him + Pig + Goddard is probably one of the best Centre back lines in the league.
