What a fine mess this is. I think everyone is entitled to be absolutely furious about what has happened on all sorts of levels.

Hopefully our the president, coach & leadership group can arrive at the correct action to take. There is no easy answers and I am struggling to think of what action is best.

There is a lot of people screaming for heads to roll as was I when I found out the whole situation, however the worst thing that could happen is to over react on passion, anger and media frenzies. If we do this it will end up in the wrong decision one way or the other. I think that happened yesterday when the club reacted so quickly and have ended up with mud on their faces. Let the dust settle then make a decision, why does it have to be rushed?

I thought the theory of making Shaw play as punishment was soft at first. Certainly if it was a fringe player or young player they would have been suspended & hidden from the media glare. Suspending certainly takes the heat off the player & the club. Being important players puts a twist on things. The club are paying big money for them to play so a suspension (unlike a fringe player) penalises the club, supporters & sponsors. Scotty Burns said it best "Bugger him"! I love Scotty Burns. This is a reasoned approach, but I still want some blood by suspending them to teach them a lesson, but perhaps this is not a rational decision.

Also noted with interest they received expert advice from counsellers that it was best practice to keep Heath working rather than suspending. I am thinking the experts have him in their supercoach sides.

So how best to teach them a lesson. Fines, community work etc obviously but both need clauses inserted into their contracts which gives the club some leverage for the future. There has to be more but what will work that sets an example for others at the club? Trading them maybe, but getting rid of Tarrant this way hasn't stopped problems has it?

No easy answers, just difficult decisions.

Spend the next three weeks in the VFL.

If they go back, cop their punishment and maintain good form in the twos, bring them back for the finals - if we make it!

Sacking is an easy decision IMO. Not a brave nor couragous decision. It only makes people like Sheehan write about us a bit better.

That's right. **** the media and opposition.

I'm only interested in what Collingwood people have to say.

If we're going to give in to the media and opposition we may as well give up now.

Does anyone know if is even possible to trade a player the same year as signing a contract. I thought I remembered same Heffernan clause

I think they must be suspended. I would be disappointed if we traded Didak, but then again I was disappointed when we traded Tarrant, and yet the Sun rose the next day.

We have never bowed to media pressure.

Ed will do what he thinks is best for the club.

I have a bad feeling my favourite player is goneski.

What I'd like is both get suspended for the rest of the year, Didak perhaps 1st 2 rounds next year and Didaks new contract is amended to include the strictest of clauses.

I just don't want us to sack him because everyone is saying too.

Probably wouldn't be a popular decision, but I would look at suspending him into next season.

Maybe for a total of 8 weeks all up playing VFL football, getting back to the actual grass roots, showing him how lucky he is to be playing in front of 60,000 each week.

Listen you guys don't panic.
Here's a likely scenario.Didak and Shaw, are under CONTRACT to the pies.
The club is in the box seat. They cannot go anywhere unless instructed by the club.So forget 2008 our season is over.We will play kids for the rest of the year.and if we drop down the ladder so be it.
We will put ourselves in prime position to get draft picks and or uncontracted players ,or even a brown or kerr.(personally i'd steer clear of these two and ask for high draft picks instead.)
We will suspend both shaw and didak till year's end ,then i reckon Shaw will be given arerieve and kept but Didak may be traded, depending on what we are offered. If we don't like the deal we put him on a renewed contrct with certain clauses to keep him in check. That is a worse possible scenario.
At best we could get a high top 5 draft pick for him. Then we can get agun midfielder in the draft or use him top get a more experienced player like possibly Kerr or Brown if need be.
Either way we won't lose.We are not the biggest club in the land for nothing.
While we at it a new coach would not go astray and the culture will change like a breath of fresh air.So in times of adversity, new challenges can bring success.
Look briefly i love diddy didak and will be sad to see him go but i also liked Tarrant.and i am over that now.If reid comes good next year, medhurst has been a revelation.

I reallt felt for Dids when i woke up last year (forget what the date was) and the front of the sun had that quote form the mother of the guy who got shot by Hudson and was disgusted that they reckoned Didak was somewhat responsible for it. I really thought that he would pull himself in but i guess once the clauses went from his new contract he was straight out again, now im not sorry i dont want him gone but if he is sacked wel there is only one person to blame.:(:(:(
