I'm not buying in to the Bay 13 opinion on Yarran. Aluminium bats or not, this kid will be something truly special.

At least that's my opinion.

What are your true thoughts on Chris Yarran?

he'll be a gun, he'll probably do a few good things this year so people take more notice.

i'd expect that stuff to be on show more often in 2011.

lol.

Expect he could be a very good player.

On field, all that matters is his application and work rate.

He has good physical size and will hopefully develop a solid base, so as long as he works hard he certainly seems to have all the required tools.

He was deadly for the swans in the WAFL. From last week, he seems to be getting better, and is coming along a little slower than I personally would have thought, but I still think that he's going to be a gun footballer. He's one thing Blues fans will be able to rub in the faces of the bay13 mob pretty soon I would think:D

Thinking he'll be a very good player. While he did little last year at a senior level, based on youtube clips I think the comparisons with S.Burgoyne look on the money.

Really think he will come on this year, was out at Blacktown and even though he doesn't look as quick as the likes of jetta and those types, he could always put a yard or two between himself and his opponents, and the way he ran around his man with the ball in the last quarter was amazing. Unfortunately his finishing was terrible but he chased out through the middle a few times (reminded me of the youtube clips of his time with SD) so on the right track. Just needs to be kept in the side as he becomes consistent.

He's a gun. I can't help but think he might have come along faster at another club though. I don't mean that as a go at Carlton, maybe he has been home-sick or something and would have been the same at any Melbourne club.

Yarran will be a great player but like i been saying al;l along it wont happen until he comes back to the west. Unfortunately he wont be at his best at Carlton

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't his family move over here for that very reason?

He had family issues last year which no doubt would have affected his performance.

His father is still in the west. I think he is still in jail. You have a point tho about family. Daniel Wells family all moved to Melbourne , he was going to return to the west but the club relocated his whole family just to keep him.

That's right, his father is in jail. I believe a death in the family was the reason he had spent a fair amount of time in Perth last year. I'm not 100% sure on whether his family has indeed moved over here but I have been told that by a few people. Surely that would mean a great deal to Chris and he should now thrive :):thumbsu:

Have always rated him, will be a player defenders will HATE to play on: slippery, strong and smart......defenders nightmare.

Hope you're right Military man, do you know something or just a gut feel about him leaving?
