It's possible that any club could fold, but North will never merge.

I don't want to see them fold, but they should have relocated to Canberra 10 years ago. They could have had the ACT to themselves, they would still have a large supporter base in Victoria, and GWS wouldn't be needed.

I just doubt there will still be 9 teams in the Melbourne region in 2030 (and yes, I admit my team may be in the gun too :()

Absolutely, considering your club is currently in a worse financial position than North.

Surely thats a joke, our crowds are at least 20% bigger than yours

You're also winning games and playing deep in to the finals. I'm pretty sure that our attendance will increase by 5,000 on average if and when we step up in to the top tier.

My comments were more related to your much larger debt, and the pokies that Carlton will be taking from you.

On current standings, North is in a stronger position to ride out a downturn than the Doggies.

North also picked up 12,000 new members in the mid to late 90's, there will be plenty of them having kids over the next decade.

Jan 2016 is my guess. In a seriously bad way at the moment.

Yeah possibly but I think that isn't on the cards for a looooong time so we have a lot of time to make up ground which are doing quite nicely already.

With a 1 billion TV rights deal about to be signed no teams will be folding or merging. Stupid poll.

10 years ago we were coming of a great era, why would we move to Canberra?

You guys were playing some home games there, wouldn't be surprised to see an AFL team based in the capital city one day. I reckon most Swans fans are glad they moved to Sydney. Relocating (South Melbourne) is less painful than folding or merging (Fitzroy).

They weren't a few years ago.
True, winning plenty of games makes a big difference. We've had bigger crowds for the last 5 years, even in 2007 when North pinched a top 4 spot and Bulldogs crashed with a horrible end to the season.

Hopefully not, don't think any team will fold or merge under the current Administration. The worst that could happen would be something similar to the seven games interstate plan

This thread is on borrowed time and has already had a nice sized clean up.

Keep it on topic, and without the cheap shots, or it'll be locked and cards will be handed out.

We started playing home games there in 2001 and by 2006 the only games that sold out were when we played the Swans. It's ridiculous to suggest that the reigning Premier relocate especially to a city as tiny as Canberra and with no ground work whatsoever.

Well if it's less painful relocate to Darwin then.

2007 where you played less home games away than us?

Based on Melbourne home games only
Western Bulldogs: 32287
North Melbourne: 34361

:( maybe in less then 20 years North will move/merge.
& maybe also Bulldogs move or merge to geelong Skilled Stadium
