It mostly comes down to the fact that Victorians have an alternative stadium the Victorians believe is the pinnacle of Australian stadiums.I understand (and somewhat agree) with the Docklands precinct being generally terrible - I've rarely spent any time there outside of heading to the stadium, and when I have it's got a weird 'ghost town' kind of vibe
but I don't understand the hate of the stadium itself -
Its a chore to get in and out of and there are no good seats in GA.The food is more expensive, the tickets are more expensive. The lack of different stands and closed roof makes me feel lost and out of sorts. The atmosphere is poor, mainly because the lower drawing teams play there, but also because the fans are stuck on level 3 so far away from the ground.
All these things the MCG does better than Etihad, and its much easier to point out its flaws when you have a good example of it being done better.
