Ben Cousins is a brilliant football player, you can't dispute that.

Unfortunately it is the clubs managers that have contributed to his demise by letting him get away with his antics for way too long..... way too long!! This has assisted him in becoming the party boy who obviously has taken no responsibility for his previous actions nor his role as a role model to younger Football and Eagles fans or a Leader in his club.
Had they not be so lenient on him in the first place, maybe he would have pulled his head in and dealt with any issues needed to be dealt with then and there. If they had have been tougher on in him in the beginning then he wouldn't be where he's at today!

Sad stuff to see such a great football talent go to waste!

Saying the club should have done more to prevent his slide is valid. They were negligent in letting his obvious ability get in the way of good judgment when dealing with earlier episodes.
However the blame still has to land squarely at the feet of cousins himself. You don’t get a drug habit by accident. You have to first try it and then decide you like it. Then hang around characters that can supply you with the gear , all the time hiding what you are doing from people close to you and people you work with and in this case random drug testers. It would not be easy, especially when you are as high profile as Ben.
He led a privileged existence and was arrogant enough to think he could get away with anything. His current problems are his own doing and I find it hard to have much sympathy.

Over the last 7 or 8 years I've read that many stories about how great Ben Cousins is and what an inspiring and courageous person he is and what a wonderful human being (according to Grandpa John McGrath and others) he is, that I've become sick of seeing his face.

Fair dinkum, when he pukes, he's an inspiration because he's run himself into the ground, so he's just fantastic. Not because he's abused his body with God knows what, oh no, it's because he's given his all for his team As if! When he runs from police it's because he's under too much scrutiny from the press and the general public

As a swannies supporter how "cheated" would you feel if it comes to light that west cokers were playing "under the influence" on GF day? Isn't Coke a performance enhancing drug up to a point? This could set a new standard in allocating 4 points or taking them away IMO. Just a thought.

I would be gutted but not surprised, if it was the case it didnt do them much good as they only won by a bloody point.Any way Andrew Ima******o would just try to cover it up IMO.

Perhaps if he'd been a better parent this could've been avoided? Made plenty of excuses for Ben's behaviour in the past. I don't know - it sounds like you might Masai, has he tried to get Ben back on the rails in the last two years or has he been burrying his head in the sand too because of on field success?

Too right. The 'he's got personal problems so lay off him' argument does not rub off on me, because it has been used on other players who have done silly and stuipid mistakes and their excuses have been treated as an absolute cop out.
