What ever happened to the boys 'dedicating their season to Dick Pratt'?
Ever since the great man has passed away, we have had 2 pretty average losses.
This man lifted the club from its grave but by the way we went about it tonight, it's like we couldn't give a ratts ass.
Next week's game is between two of the AFL's biggest rivals and we know how much winning against the filth meant to Dick.
We must never forget what he did for our club. It is crucial that we get the 4 points and kick start our season again!
After all, it's fair to say we wouldn't be around today if Dick had not intervened and reformed the club.....

Since when do we believe what players say? The shit we have dished up shows they don't care. They only care about their back pockets, pity idiots like us continue to believe their shit.

When the ball is bounced you do not think about Pratt but the ball. Seems we were day dreaming today about something else that is for sure. Right now there are players that should be playing for their futures

Totally agree. I reckon all the players go out there with no care about winning or losing, just happy their bank balance is going to increase again this week. Don't think any of them actually love the game.

Typical simplistic response from you Alpha.

I agree. I've often thought that supportrers care more about their footy club than the players.. (Well most of them anyway). I reckon a loss hurts the supporters more than it hurts (most of) the Carlton players.

It is quite simple actually, I can only name a hand full of players who care about the club as much as the supporters do. If you don't like my comments thats fine. But I don't really care what you think either.

Yep.

All well and good dedicating the season to Pratt but when you cross that line you don't have much room to think of anything but the game. If the boys need a death to motivate them for the entire season than you've really got to ask questions.

Well obviously nothing motivates them. We are pathetic, and deserve everything we cop. A laughing stock, pretenders, and down hill skiers.

I just think its a little too easy to say they only care about getting paid and not about the club or playing well. Do you really think theres that many blokes on AFL lists who think "oh, this is an easy way of boosting my bank balance, i think i'll try this" no, they're mostly full of blokes who've spent their entire lives trying to get to this point.

Maybe look a little deeper at why we got done and continue to lose winnable games...like our game plan, skills coaching, training program, the culture of tolerance that has developed over the last few years and the shitload of other things that go in to creating a win at all costs unit.

Dedicating the season was just plain dumb. Anyone really think a single player gave the great man a thought before, during or after the game tonight? It's too taxing to carry that sort of emotional weight all year - particularly if, in the end, it is just a contrivance. He died, we've grieved, we must now play footy driven by our desire to win games.

Couldn't agree more. I was less than comfortable on hearing the club make this very public dedication. As you said, we must now play footy driven by our desire to win games.

In the same vein, I think using our poor record against opposition sides to motivate players is getting a bit old too - well IMO it was used prematurely. Let's just get back to winning because that's what a good team does, and we're striving to be a good team.

I dunno about that, there's Murphy, Kreuz and ummm....

They'll dedicated the season to him whether we finish bottom or top.

To say the players don't care about Richard Pratt because they lose is farfetched and plain insulting.

They knew him, 99% of us didn't. What a shocking thing to put on people. Like saying not passing my exams is an insult to a deceased relative. Put things into perspective.

Rubbish thread.
